Then yesterday I bumped into the nurse who helped me get the appointment. Being a family friend knew exactly why I missed the appointment and asked me if I’m still wanting to go through with the op. Obviously I was keen. Due to covid 19 they have put everything on hold until July which is when she will book my appointment for (should things not get out of hand)

So now I’m excited and looking forward to something again. Looks like it’s time to hit that cycle as well.
Have built up some nice equipment for my home gym experience so nothing will stand in my way. If we do get a shut down like I suspect the president will announce this evening it will be even more in my favor. No work and enough sleep and training. Can’t wait to see the new look after the op .

Thanks again Pump for all the awesome advice and guidance.

Sure thing. I'm so keen for you. When its done and you take the plaster off and you see it all flat, yay

Sorry to hear man.

Thanks Oupa. Old man was not well having a heart attack once every month for 5 months. Took his total up to 17 heart attacks!!!
Old man was strong but his time had come. He lived a great life and I’m just glad knowing he isn’t suffering anymore.

In Islam we have certain prayer nights after the passing at 7 days and 40 days, today is his 40 days which happens to fall on my birthday. So was quite a morning for me but I just remember the great times up until the last time we spoke in hospital before he left us.

Sorry to hear. Unbelievable how strong he was to last so many heart attacks. Prayers are with you.

Yeah such a tough guy. Even 2 days before his passing he was still helping people with some cases from the hospital bed. Was retired and doing things for free to help people who were busy losing their homes and last belongings. Big shoes to fill!!

@vlad, cherish any moments you can. Things happen so fast and I’m glad that I pushed everything aside for the last few months to spend time with family.

Hows the tissue at the moment? Who is doing the surgery, a general or plastic?

Not sure what you mean when you ask how the tissue is. However I'll try to answer.
Over the last year things have been a bit crazy and I think had a negative issue on my body and hormones. The gland has actually grown with quit a bit of fat also around it.

Having it done by a plastic surgeon. Feeling especially comfortable as he had personally had surgery himself. Explained things nice and thoroughly.

Glad it's getting chopped out. Does he use drains or not? Recovery is quick, the exercises that I found hard to get back into was lat pull down, that stretch hurt. But looking at a flat chest I'd awesome ????

Yes he is using drains. He mentioned that the only concern he has is bleeding post op. Otherwise will be a breeze.

Was already a great feeling when they did final measuring. Looking forward to the flat chest

Quick update, out if theatre and drains are still in.
Some pain but nothing crazy, don't even think I need pain killers (but will take some for sleep time).

They offered me the removed tissue as a souvenir lol.
Took out most of the fat as well. Can tell on upper chest which is leaner. Definitely welcomed and appreciated that extra.
Doc says he's excited to see the final results and more so my joy when I have a flat chest.

I think recovery will be a breeze except for the annoyance of having to sleep on my back.

Yay exciting bro, enjoy looking at your chewed up shrimp  ;)

The pain meds will help you sleep on your back. When is the drains coming out, 2 days?

One word of advice bro, go to one of those clinics and let them help you with the scar to prevent a keloid, you spent allot of money on the surgery, do the lazer which is only effective soon ish after the op (I can't remember the time) which is cheap and they give you some oil/cream to help.

As for the drains, they will come out once 300ml has been drained. Currently just under 200ml so 2 days sounds about right. Doc says that he'd like to have me here the weekend though.

He's also spoken to me about possible trt, however he said that's a talk for my follow up visit which is 2 weeks after discharge day.

Nice, I think the lazer / skin renewal process starts about 2 to 3 weeks down the road. Once the plasters come off you can start applying bio oil to help.

TRT can actually help prevent this happening again, low testosterone itself can cause gyno, but you going to need a few bloods for the first 6 weeks finding your AI dose for estrogen control, it's easy you over do it you tank estrogen you pull back, you under do it its elevated. It's a controversial topic, but i lean towards the lower side of normal, certainly under 100pmol/L, I like to be around 70-75pmol/L that number will change based upon testosterone to e2 ratio but I'm talking purely (proper blood trt doses).

How much is this op setting you back, they chuck me out the same day, never let me stay over :P

Yeah I'm definitely looking into the lazer skin renewal. Doctor will be back with me in a hour and then I'll ask him about it as well.

Regarding trt, he says we should do some more bloods first and then we look at what's going to happen around it. Again I'm super happy with him as he has been through gyno surgery and confirmed he also is on trt. Not into fitness like we are but mentioned he had low T and needed it, also that it was the best thing that happened to him. He also went through a depression phase and erratic weight changes before trt and since trt his life changed.

I think I might have mentioned way back when I planned the op that I'm not paying for it. I am fortunate enough to know someone who arranged everything for me. She arranged every booking and appointment right up until the surgery without me doing anything except showing up to the appointments she told me to. I think the bill is somewhere around 70k though. Will see the statement and confirm costs with you... if she allows me to see the statement.

I've been in hospital for 3 days now. Doc just mentioned that he's letting me go home today to celebrate Eid in comfort. Sending me home with drain in place and just showing me how to discard. All I need to do is keep track of how much drained which is clearly shown on the drain. Then on Tuesday they'll have me back to remove the drains. Clearly I wont be doing much but relaxing in bed with the drains attached.

As for recovery, barely feel any pain. Just a discomfort due to drains being in. Also compression bandage is on so range of motion is limited. I can live with being pampered at home

Great news.

Sounds like you on the mend, each day is a day closer to you being back in the gym.

The operation is pretty pain free, I had two moles or whatever they where on my head and had they cut out at the same time, my man when the Dr cut that stich out in my head I felt pain, it isn't the best place to be stitched ;) has he used disposable stitches?

The Dr does sound like he knows his stuff, keep us posted, enjoy being home bud.

Yeah definitely on the mend and will be back in action soon.

I honestly expected some pain and I'm so surprised that there is none... not complaining though.
Actually not sure if he used disposable stitches and didn't even think to ask. Will find out on Tuesday, don't want to take up his weekend time as well.

Doc really knows his stuff and was super awesome since before the surgery. Always called to update and check on me and said I was free to call him anytime with questions.

I should probably give my neighbour a huge gift for arranging this op for me. Don't think she knows how happy I am about this

Ameen.

Unfortunately we have rules with very good reasoning behind it.
However you may ask for anything in this thread and there will be plenty if help and info made available by anyone who has experience or knowledge.
