Either your supplier is misinformed or he is deliberately lying to you so that you can buy what ever he is stocking now.
If it's the latter and he can lie to you about PGW not being available any more then he can surely lie to you about quality and the safety of his current products as well. Once a liar always a liar.
With the current economic state everyone is trying to save money, but you have to ask yourself what is the cheaper brand doing so that they can undercut established brands when it comes to price, aren't they maybe cutting corners with quality and sterilization procedures? Quality ingredients and sterilization equipment costs allot and they are expensive to maintain as well, so maybe the cheaper brand is using micro-filters on volumes larger than the filter manufacturer's recommendations or they are not replacing UV sterilizers after the recommended number of hours or they aren't using proper equipment to sterilize the bottles or they are simply skipping one or more of the processes in the first place. The danger is that we will never know until it's too late and someone ends up in hospital, but by then the brand would have changed their name and covered their tracks.
