Hey guys,
This is a really cool read on Carbs at night. I am seeing more and more "bioscience" theories being debunked and this is one of my favourites!
It is nice to know that I can catch up on daily calorie intake at night. There is also a lot of info on this in a diet called Carb Back Loading, which actually suggests skipping breakfast and eating most carbs at night.

What do you think??

I follow Carb Back Loading and have a thread on it here as well, been going for quite a while now and love it.

Any diet I prescribe to my clients I have the carbs at the end of the day. Not necessarily in a back load fasion but just because I've seen most clients will quite happily avoid carbs throughout the day, if they know they can have a nice carb laden dinner with their family.

More and more strength coaches and nutritionists are recommending it. Works for me :)

Ok so there are some differences though.

CBL (Carb Back Loading) - you go through the initial 10 day carb "starvation" to send your body into a state of Ketosis. Then you "reload" with extreme amount of carbs. After this you "maintain" by doing the CBL method of no brekkie, Carb Loading late in the day and so on. Am I right?

Ketogenic - Same as above, except you Back Load carbs later in the week, not every day.

And then my article above, which is following the normal protocols, but knowing that you need not fear carbs at night as your SMR is actually HIGHER than your RMR. HOWEVER, your body is not in a stat of Ketosis......

Do you follow?

I am very keen to do the CBL version as I can happily start loading Carbs after midday and increase it as I go. Keto a bit extreme.

DC EVO: Any chance you can assist me with a CBL plan??

I have to agree but I think it depends on how your eating plan is set up. I used to avoid carbs at night when eating 6/7 meals every day and that worked for me. But with intermittent fasting I can stuff my face with rice and sweet potato right before bed until I want to puke and I still lose fat.

With carb backloading and diet plans where you avoid carbs for breakfast it works no doubt. But if you eat lots of carbs before bed and then again for breakfast you aren't going to burn that fat off, and there are going to be the noobs who just read, "Its fine to eat lots of carbs late at night", and then wonder why they aren't getting in shape while they stuff their face with a big bowl of oats in the morning.
