BCAA measurements was created by Furk
Hey guys, perhaps a repeated question but I need some help - I don't have access to a scale right now.

How much is 5g of BCAAs? To my understanding the pure stuff comes to 1 heaped teaspoon.

Thanks gents

Good morning Furk

Yes one heaped teaspoon will be fine. As a general rule your normal kitchen scoops of 1ml equals 1gram.

But with the light density of BCAA a heaped spoon will be sufficient

From my experience if you take a teaspoon and scoop as much powder as you can then you are the 4g mark. Very light density.

Thanks guys. I guess density just differs in products that contain flavourants and colourants.

@pyro: What brand is that? Yeah I suspected it wouldn't have the same density as creatine - that's usually 1 teaspoon on the mark.

Hi Furk

No bud, the density between BCAA and Creatine are very far apart.

To give you an idea- we put 500 gram Creatine in our "medium" pouches, but we put 500g BCAA in our large pouches where it takes almost as much space as 1kg of Whey.

The density has got nothing to do with the flavorants and colorants- in fact- if Flav and Coloring are added to the product the density will come down as those powders are heavy and low in density. But then you need to take more product to get the right amount of dosage. If you use flavored BCAA you will probably need to take two spoons.

It works the same with commercial flavored whey. You might need to take a bigger serving or more scoops to get the right amount of protein

Ondier, that's why I said the two are different, cause creatine is usually 5g to a teaspoon. I had to buy commercial stuff cause I was in a hurry out of the country so I got muscleworks (supplement factory's retail label) and SSN. Both are pretty pure and SSN states 1 spoon to 5g. Just don't want to screw up my IF protocol by taking in too little BCAAs.

@pyro : Yeah if I had the time I would've gone for BSSA also. Raw > retail.
