Morning All,

Would like your take on this please,

what do you guys thing of Pea Protein isolate vs whey?

I'm a gout sufferer, sad i know specially at my young age, but im looking for alternatives to consume for protein as i need to limit meat. I am eating eggs and cottage cheese that sort of dairy protein as well, but i know i need more.

I was looking at The pea protein, not only is it a great price, but its has no added BS just pure raw protein and at a very affordable price, mean ill be able to take 2 serving a day of Pea protein compared to the price of whey.

Now i know yeah most will recommend Whey, but working on a budget as well as to some restrictions, ofc ill eat real food by far, but gout limits that.

ATM im taking 1 serving whey a day as a post workout, but i know i need to add more protein, specially to my lunch meal.

So the real question is, will i benefit from the pea protein, as well as will it be negative on the gout.

Thanx in advance.

PS. Just went back to gym this week after 2 months, ofc due to gout.

Hey Marius,

I have very little knowledge on gout, and I would think that the types of food that influence it differ from person to person (some are worse for one person than for another) Just correct me if i'm wrong.

Just thinking about the foods I was eating to get my protein, i'm sure with a bit of help we can find a suitable list of foods that can up your protein without too much problem for the gout. What sort of food can't you really eat?

I've managed to get away with 1 whey shake post-workout, and gained 12 odd kilograms during my 10 week cycle (not that you need the gear, but as a reference that I managed to get good protein). I'll gladly give you ideas to get your protein up.

I personally only use pea protein & it is awesome. Great biological values, high protein, very low carb & goes down very well!

I quote:

"Cons: Isolated pea protein is often considered complete because it can contain the spectrum of essential amino acids. Even still, it remains deficient in certain amino acids and should not be used as a primary source of dietary protein. "
