According to this article, popular brands like Muscle Pharm are loading their products with cheap fillers and amino spiking methods. According to the claim, MP only delivers 19g Protein of the promised 40g, which is 44% of what is on the label.

But MR. Fillet don't you even trust BSSA ? At least they are pure products without fillers and sugars atc.

No matter how many "tests" nutritech and all the rest do I still have a feeling that its not 110% spot on correct because if someone ever found out the truth no-one will ever again by there products that's just my own opinion

Without details dk, whole foods and labs you can trust is most important. All this whey and bcaa I have tried for years, no different. Juice and clean food made me what I wanted to be

Good marketing :P

The truth of the matter is that nutritional information is not regulated and tested enough.
I question the accuracy of most products on shelf.
Supplements are under scrutiny because it's target market are a bunch of calorie counting, Protein calculating, pedantic arses.
Whole fresh food is the only way to be certain, but it's not always an option.

When it hurts... That's when i start counting, because that's when it starts to count.

What about superior products like Optimum Nutrition ?
I also prefer using whole foods , but its not always convenient and some of us don't always have the time to prepare foods in the kitchen , that's why I use a combination of both natural and superior products

Give me some eggs and beef!

Thanks for the link Pyro. Agree with Fillet, but I have some trusted supp. supliers that I use from time to time. For everything else, there's what can be hunted, farmed, picked, fished or plucked.

@donkiekong: That's why I only go for raw supps. I think BSSA is doing a good job.

It's expensive to bring the products in...
I looked at doing something similar and the capital outlay is huge. Best leave it to them ;)

So here's some questions question:

So what's the issue with amino-spiking???
Have they not just eliminated the need for digestion?
Does this cause an insulin spike?? (apparently Whey protein does)
or am I missing the full picture??

Assuming that:
Protein is just a combination of various amino-acids.
Depending how these amino-acids are combined it could be GH, HCG, IGF-1 or snake venom!

Digestion of protein:
When exposed to stomach acids, proteins denature rapidly.
When exposed to digestive enzymes, they are broken down into their constituent amino-acids - only then can they be absorbed into the blood steam.

Once in the blood, they are transported to our cells & absorbed, where they are used for energy or building blocks.

I was supplement shopping over the weekend and a certain shop told me they only stock International brands because the likes of SSN, Evox, USN, etc aren't tested enough. Nutritech is the one exception. What u guys think? Because generally buying international brands can be pricey but is it worth it to know it's tested properly?

Hey come on now guys, they are useful: They tell me what's in stock without me wasting my time searching for something ;)

Worst experience I've had is a GNC in Australia. I seen they are opening branches in SA now :( Overprized sups, foolish staff (my experience at least).

But to get back on topic, I honestly think you cannot compare USN to SSN, or even Evox.

For supplement consultants it's all about targets cause then they get the commission.

I know dischems had a commission structure change recently and it's not per brand targets anymore now it's about total sales in supplement aisle.

I also don't really listen to the Supplement consultants but some have degree's in sports nutrition and dietetics.
So I always ask "what qualification do you have?"
