Jeeez, dammit - second time back pump has made me go soft during a leg workout.

Managed to finish 5 sets of heavy squats, but couldn't do deadlifts.

Apparently Taurine helps?
does it just take the edge off?
does it fix it?

Used how & at what dose?

any advice appreciated?

tbol / dbols is normal for backpumps, but for equi or test that's rare.

I dont think its got anything to do with your compounds.

How is your liver values? I struggled with back pumps and the doc suggested I do a blood test, and my liver values were terrible. Lots of milk thistle etc. later & no back pump.

Haven't tested liver values.
Been on Liv 52 morning & evening from the start of the cycle.
So I'm kinda hoping all is in check.

But I'll keep it in mind.

Gonna give the Taurine a go first.

Hi guys. Any feedback on this?

My back pump is progressively getting worse and preventing me from finishing my workout. I'm on week three of tbol 40mg a day and test cyp 250mg every 4 days. Today after 3 sets of squats the pain in my lower back was so bad I couldn't stand / sit / lie down without grimacing. Had to end my session.

Never experienced this kind of pain when squatting / deadlifting and I'm just starting to experience the benefits of my cycle. Really frustrated that I'm not able to complete a workout because of the pain.

Any input for me?

I'm taking biogen milk thistle with every Tbol pill and bcaas intra workout. Should I be taking any other liver support?

Liver support is taken care of with the milk thistle - get some Taurine. Or drop the Tbol but if you're enjoying the Tbol I wouldn't drop it, rather get something for the back pumps.

Thanks Hormonas. Don't really want to drop the tbol now as I'm really enjoying it. Will get the taurine. Any advice on dose, timing, etc.

Oupiel did you notice an improvement?

Some people say that you should take 5-10g preworkout, some say to split 5-10g throughout the day (morning, midday and evening). It's completely up to you. It's well known to help with back pumps but everyone is different so just test it out on yourself.

Cheers Hormonas.

I've searched takealot, Xtreme Nutrition, Supplement SA, Nutritech and Chrome Shop and don't seem to find a taurine only supp anywhere.

The only options I've seen is Nutritech's Glu-Taurine, which is only 3g of Taurine per serving (and 7g Glutamine) or Solal Capsules of pure Taurine which are only 500mg. At that rate I'm gonna break the bank trying to get in 5 - 10g.

Any suggestions on a brand I should look out for?

Iron K.

Solal or Holistix. Go to Dischem.

Thanks Furk. I went to a couple different stores and no one sells it at higher quantities so just bought 2 x 60 pill bottles at 0.5g a pill (Holistix from dischem) Am going to try take 6 pills with my preworkout (amino pre - also has some taurine, although probably negligible amount) on the days I'm planning to deadlift or squat. Will report back if it helps. Here's hoping.....

Hi guys. Just some feedback for those interested: As a preworkout this morning I took 3g Holistix taurine, 3 scoops amino pre and 1 scoop ssn cytoguard (I happened to win a packet of the stuff recently so thought I'd add it in after checking the ingredients).

Managed to kick off my session with 4 sets of deadlifts @ 160kg x 8 reps with minimum back pump. By the last set I could feel a significant burn but it was manageable and I could carry on with my session for the next 40 mins so it definitely helped. My last session I had to cut short due to the pain. Thanks for the info guys.

Hey Kobra,

I recall Taurine competes for uptake with arginine or beta-alinine, can't remember which one, so if your pre-workout contains them, maybe take taurine at a different time. I see Cytoguard contains taurine and arginine.

Also, why do deadlifts for reps? Deads is best used to build strength, and strength is best built around the 5 rep range (for 5 sets usually). Maybe the high volume has something to do with the back pumps? Anyway, your strength is good, but don't over estimate your CNS and tendons and itty-bits recovery rate. On gear folks push muscles far, recover quick and think they can do another session of punishing, only to get injured to another system failing.

Anyway, respect 160kg X 8. What's your weight and height, deadlifts can get dramatically more difficult when you are taller lol.

I would say if you do deadlifts and take most of the legs out of the movement squeezing at the top its an awesome excersise to build the whole back.

How do you take legs out of a deadlift exercise? The first half of the movement is almost all legs.

If I do deadlifts its in a back session used to load the bar and have sore lower back for two days afterwards. Watched a videos of kais awhile back and since then I put it in at the end of a back workout and don't go heavy no more than 110kgs. The plates don't touch the floor at the bottom of the movement the bar stops about middle of the shin similar to stiff leg deadlift but don't focus on a stretch in the hamstrings. Can feel all the muscles in the back working if done right nice pump to finish off.

Fair enough MA the bottom of the movement is different to a standard deadlift but the legs are mostly out then.

Hey lobo, a but concerned about that soreness, maybe make a recording of yourself deadlifting (camera square on your side) and play it to check form?

Ye that's a Romanian Deadlift and takes the majority of quad work out of it but if done properly is a great hamstring workout.

Go big or go home...

Shot Rhino wasnt sure what it was called I find it more effective for back than the normal deadlift working on feel. less chance of injury aswell seldom do regular deadlifts anymore.

Furk I would say it was more going too heavy than the form that caused the pain but thanks bud.
