When the compound was first studied it was found to modify the cells that line the interior of blood vessels, i.e. the endothelial cells (do you remember this from school biology?) and hence the trade name ENDOTHIL, which must have been derived from the word endothelium

Ok did some reading into this and all I can say is if you have cancer or are prone to various cancers i wouldn't touch the stuff. Green tea extract plays a role in angiogenesis which is the formation of blood vessels. Angiogenesis also plays a role in cancer as tumours use this process to supply nutrients etc that are present in the blood to the tumour. By doing so, less nutrients are provided to surrounding tissues and allows for tumours to increase in size and later metastasize (move through the body to new locations) and are termed malignant
