Im using l-glutamine 3x5g a day. No BCAA and only creatine in pre-workout supp. I start getting sore like 2hours after gym. Am i maybe overtraining?

You really ought to supplement with BCAA`s. Im not saying they will reduce trhe soreness you are experiencing but they are critically important for a multitude of reasons and benefits if you are hitting the weights hard and regularly.

How often do you train and for how long? What excersises are you doing?

Well I train 5 days a week and for 1 and half hours. 3 to 4 exercises per muscle group. And what BCAA would u suggest.

imo and hour and a half is too long. I would bring it down to 40-50 minutes max. anything more starts the release of cortisol which frankly does nothing for gains, in fact it is catabolic.

Whey protein is a must if you hitting the gym that regularly. Youll get a ton of bcaas from it.

Heres a list of BCAAs that I found...

Essential:

Isoleucine
Leucine
Lysine
Methionine
Phenylalanine
Tryptophan
Valine

Non-Essential:Alanine
Arginine
Aspartic acid
Cysteine
Cystine
Glutamic acid
Glutamine
Glycine
Hydroxyproline
Proline
Serine
Tyrosine

Yes as Mr. Barbell suggested stick too 40-50min for training and BCAA's are extremely important for protein synthesis. You can also try supplementing with just L-leucine as this is the most important of the 3 BCAA's for protein synthesis as per studies on the net.

I take a whey protein shake 24g post workout. I'll cut my training time down. What brand for the BCAA is good and worth the money. Thanx for all the replies so far!

true...technicaly speaking...they are amino acids but because their structure has a branch off the main trunk of the molecule they called BCAA`s. IO think they also help with the processing of the rest of the aa`s...

:haha :haha :haha :haha
du... um.. barbell you continue to amaze me with wierd ideas!

But its not your fault, so I will explain.

What you have listed above are all the amino acids that exist in the body and make up protein. All amino acids have the basic chemical formula NH3+ - CH(R) - COO- where the (R) group represents their side chains.
Branch chain amino acids however refers to those non-polar amino acids that have a branching alkyl chain in their side chain, and thus specifically refers only to leucine, isoleucin, and valine. I'm afraid Beesting is 100% right here, and you are well...wrong.

EDIT: I took the liberty of correcting your table of essential and non-essential amino acids , as this was wrong too...

Essential:

Isoleucine
Leucine
Lysine
Methionine
Phenylalanine
Threonine
Tryptophan
Valine

Non-Essential:
Alanine
Arginine
Asparagine
Aspartic acid
Cysteine
Glutamic acid
Glutamine
Glycine
Histidine
Proline
Serine
Tyrosine

Cystine is not an individual amino acid. It is formed by the reduction of two cysteine amino acids, forming a covalent disulphide bond. These are often crucial for many protein structures.
Hydroxyproline is not an individual amino acid but a derivative of proline.
You forgot Histidine.

With time bro. The pain lets you know the weights are doing there job. It will be bad in the beginning but as you continue to train is will get better. You will stop noticing it to.
Just push on and grow brother man.

Hi Inja, thanks so much for your input. Your wisdom and intimate knowledge of everything is appreciated and I am forever in debt for you taking the time to correct my somewhat average attempts at learning however I am somewhat mystified as to why you seem to lack the reading capabilities of a entry level primary school learner. I clearly agreed with Beesting as I clearly said "True"...

Cysteine is an amino acid (HO2CCH(NH2)CH2SH, it`s a non-essential amino acid, i.e it is biosynthesized in humans. Cystine is a dimeric amino acid, that as you correctly pointed out are, created by oxidization of 2 cysteine residues that bond to form a disulfide bond. However the disulfide link mentioned is very easily reduced to give the relevant thiol, cysteine. Based on this the processing of it in the body and the benefits are identical to that of cysteine.

Apologies for leaving out Histidine. Please accept my apologies. B)

im addicted to muscular pain from training,if my muscles arent sore it feels like i didnt train, then i push harder the next time. The best remedy for muscle pain is good nutrition, and the best sources of amino acids are healthy wholesome foods like eggs, chicken, fish, etc.so if you eat properly you dont need to buy bcaa's.
