Increasing stimulant sensitivity was created by Jayman
Morning boys (and Beesting) :)

This is something that's been bothering me for a while.
Things like coffee, fat burners, pre workout supps, etc. have virtually no effect on me at all! before leg days I take 3 servings of BSN N.O explode and the effect is prob less than some of you get from a cup of coffee.
My question is whether I can do something to make me a little more sensitive to all this stuff? I've tried not using them for a week or two (except for my daily 2 cups of coffee) and still niks?

Your adrenal glands are overstressed from the caffeine.
You have to take one month off ALL caffeine.
You might get some withdrawal headaches...

Try using Solal Burnout adrenal support, to help you cope without caffeine and to help your adrenals recover.

Shot bro greatly appreciated.
It's just that, I don't take in all that much caffeine.
My daily 2 cups of coffee is about it (I usually don't use pre workout supps)
I will take you're advice though and cut out everything for a month and see what happens.

Taking a month to reset your adrenal glands are worth it!
When you take a pre-workout supp again, buzzzzz.... zing..... :woohoo:

I agree with N3rd. Taking one or two weeks off wont help much, take at least 1-2 months off. And that means no coffe either but if you are like me and you still love coffee then have decaffe coffee instead, its a bit more pricey than normal coffee but not by much.

Hey bro, definately try the time off approach. As sting said decaf is great for this period if your addicted to the taste.
If however you find your tolerance comes back to quickly you might be a fast caffeine metaboliser. If this is the case you can try approaches like cutting down on green leafy veg and braai'd meat (and of course no smoking if you do this) for a period, then adding in grapefruit extract (naringenin from naringin), echinacea, etc with your caffeine. These may help to enhance the effect of the caffeine. You can get a test to confirm your ability to efficiently metabolise caffeine. If you are a fast metaboliser you will always have this problem with caffeine. You might consider other stimulants like synephrin of ephedrine for your pre workout booster. But don't stop drinking the coffee, it has some benefit for faster blokes.

This sounds interesting:
What is the purpose of cutting down on green leafy veg and braai'd meat?
Be technical if you want ;)

Well, cytochrome p450 enzymes (CYPs) are whore-like enzymes. Unlike traditional enzymes they are able to bind and metabolise a wide variety of compounds. They have developed this promiscuity over years of evolution so that when the body is confronted with the barrage of unique compounds from day to day there is always an enzyme able to metabolise these potentially harmful compounds. CYP19A1 (aromatase enzyme) is one of the less promiscuous CYPs that we all know about, almost exclusively metabolising steroidal compounds. CYP1A2 however is one of those CYPs that cleans up the shit life throws at us… Caffeine can be metabolised by a few CYP enzymes to varying degrees, but CYP1A2 is the main enzyme responsible for breaking this compound down. But since we are all different we each may have a slightly different variant of the enzyme, or even express greater numbers of it. This can lead to genetically faster or slower metabolisers. In the case of CYP1A2 it does also seem that dietary factors play a large role in whether someone is phenotypically a fast or slow metaboliser. This is where the cruciferous veggies (the term eluded me in my last post) and grilled meat (braais, take aways, etc…) come in. Compounds in cigarette smoke, these veggies, and compounds burnt into the meat during flame grilling are all metabolised by CYP1A2 and thus induce its expression. So, if some of you smoke and eat lots of these things, you have higher numbers of CYP1A2 enzymes circulating in your body. This leads to faster caffeine metabolism, and less of an effect from the compounds. By lowering the dietary intake of these foods you increase your sensitivity to caffeine.

Make sense? B)

Research shows that if you dont take caffein 5-7 days before a event and then pop 2-5mg per kg body weight your strength and endurence increases dramatically. In your case where it is not event specific follow the advice and leave caff for 4-6 weeks
