So I was reading this article and as usual with most T-Nation articles they are advertising Biotest supplements. I was just wondering what can be used instead of those supplements and in what amounts as
pre-workout (Which carbs and protein??)
intra-workout (BCAA's and what else??)
post-workout (Which carbs and protein??) nutrition?

Ok try have a solid meal consisting of carbs and protein about 2 hours before you're workout followed by a single serving of whey an hour before.

Pre- workout I've had great results from mixing vitargo, N.O Explode and a little BCAA's (the unflavoured ones)
I start drinking it about 15min before and then continue to sip this during my workout.
When it's finished switch over to good old water (there should be enough amino's in you're blood stream to minimalize any catabolic effects induced by you're training)
Post workout you need to focus on spiking insulin levels and then taking in you're protein.
What I use is vitargo directly afterwards and then 5-10min later have my whey.
You can use alot of dif carb sources for this though, anything high GI should do

can i just say something,all these pre and post work out and intra work out things are useless if u are not getting enough calories in during the rest of the day,do u know that u dont even need any of them? u could get away with eating 6 solid meals a day,with no whey or any other supplement for the whole day and use just whole food and u can still grow even if your food intake is all before your work out and u train before u go to bed. at the end of the day u can have as many intra post pre workout drinks u like if u are only consuming those in a day u are not gonna grow.... the benefit of these things is the faster digestion,the spiking of insulin and the shuttling of macro nutrients to the muscle,they are all beneficial but not 100% necessary...at the end of the day instead of spending tons of money on unnecessary stuff, but nice to have stuff, get in more food.

Amen DJ, that's exactly how I do it, I find no need for supps when I am getting in 6 solid meals. Supps are def not necessary!

True Pump! Should of stated I use a good Multivit, Vit C etc. So a form of supplementation I guess.

Yeah, I understand it cant beat 6 solid meals a day. Was just wondering if it will be any beneficial

Mission Champ didnt you get your diet from Dj as well?

No lets not deadlift as I need a double hip replacement haha
