concentrated, from basic supplements. isolate don't justify its price, for that few extra grams of protein.

Supplements SA whey mixed with oats after training as its a bit sweet due to the fact it has a bit of fructose mixed in it.
My fav. is SSN.
currently using Muscle Works cause my mate said it was awsome but i cant stand the taste. I think Basic Supplements is best value for money though.

Pro nutrition is pretty good stuff i have been using them for some time and find its the best tasting whey I have tried. Mario and Brett who used to own muscle science went on their own as they sold the company. Mario started SSN and Brett started Pro Nutrition. Brett has a degree in food science so he knows his shit. However i am thinking about giving basic supplements a try due to it been priced quiet cheap.

SSN is good..
I have used Evox for quite some time, but read some things about people testing it, and it not showing up what it says on the label, so, think i will finish what i have and then move on.
WAR is not bad... just taste's too weak... doesnt feel like you are having a PROTEIN SHAKE!!
If Basic supplements was flavoured, i would buy that any day... i just cant stand the taste after a while.
USN... NO
Biogen... NO
Muscle science... I do like their products... just worried slightly about their quality.

Give it a shot, you're only TESTing it...

Try Lion or SSN, have had good results with both. And both are great tasting. I'm currently on Lion but might try SSN again now. Just for interest sake does anybody know the protein index for SSN. I threw my bottle away. I know lion is 79g/100g. Think SSN is be the same though or higher?

Protein Isolate is a gimmick. It has a higher protein content but doesn't absorb well in the body since it only has 14 of the 22 amino acids concentrate has so you're not getting any added value...just a ridiculous price tag. All marketing. The only advantage is for the lactose intolerant people

ummmm mmartial where did u get that information from? whey isolate has got the highest biological value and actually contains the most BCAA's per 100g over whey concentrate...it has got the full amino acid profile to!

Hey DJ,

there's a lot of sources but here's a excerpt from " www.extremenutrition.co.uk/news_and_articles/whey.php ". Spoke to a food specialist and he gave me the same story. Isolate has a low soluble level which makes absorption difficult for the body. That's why companies must always add other stuff with it. The isolate blends on the market has a protein index of like 72g/100g of protein which is still low considering isolate has a 90% up protein content. Will see if I can find the source referring to the specific amino acid content. The article at the bottom also refers to tuna, but that's not it :P. The only Isolates that uses proper Ionization is the really expensive brands like ON etc. If you use those than I stand corrected

"People should not be under the impression that a quality concentrate is inferior to Isolate and may in fact be a superior choice, depending on the goals of the person. For example, some people don’t tolerate lactose well or are trying to watch every gram of fat in their diet, etc. while another may want the benefits of the additional compounds found in a high quality concentrate.

Isolates can contain as much as 90%+ of protein. Research has found that only whey proteins in their natural state have biological activity. The necessary amount of processing carried out upon a whey protein to remove the lactose, fats, etc. without losing its biological activity takes special care by the manufacturer, and incurs the relevant financial penalty that accompanies this level of work. Maintaining the natural state of the protein is essential to its anti-cancer and immune stimulating activity, the protein must be processed at low temperatures if it is not to alter the natural state of the protein.

These processes are micro filtering, cross flow filtration and ion exchange. These filtration methods create isolated protein, but at the same time they take away some good compounds found in a good concentrate and can also reduce the number of amino acids present in isolate compared to concentrate. It gets back to choice and what you goal is. I know I'd prefer to have a concentrate and get the added benefits that it brings rather than go for the lower fats and miss out on my amino acids."

So that's just what I've gathered. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong

i dont think loads of companies like ON,SPS and other brands would be skimping on the process to be 100% honest,i am talking about reputible brands, not like biogen who has an iso whey which is actually just a protein blend.

All that I know is that marketing sells, most of the time not the product. Isolate has a huge profit margin so companies would do anything to sell even if they misguide the public which they almost always do. Just look at heat shock protein products. They advertise how great it is yet they dont actually put HSP in, just helpers for the body for better production. Same with isolate, just a different tune
