what i have read is that it is a medium release protein but it has negative influences on your test levels. would also like a more detailed reason

Soy contains plant estrogens, which of course lowers testosterone levels. The last thing you want to happen if you are weight training :( . These estrogens also hurt your thyroid, leading to increases in body fat. It hurts both men and women, causing low sex drive, obesity, even depression and general lethargy. There have been reported cases where mothers who have been feeding their sons soy milk, have led them to develop breasts and shrunken penises when they reach puberty.

It is particularly dangerous when feeding soy milk to infants. Especially boy babies, where there is normally a huge surge of testosterone in the first few months. This leads to all sorts of development problems. It's been calculated that soy fed babies are taking in the estrogen equivalent of 3 to 5 birth control pills a day!!

Soy was originally used in dog food. Not sure how the hell it became so popular among vegans and health nuts. But I think it is something to run a mile from, if you are serious about building muscle.

The scary thing though is that soy is hidden in so many of the prepackaged foods in the supermarkets. Some guess as much 60% of all packaged foods contain hidden soy.

On a lighter note (less dangerous) Soy does not have a complete amino acid profile like whey or albumen.

Soy protein contains phytoestrogens, which bind to estrogen receptors in the body.

here summary found on another site. regarding the negatives of Soy.

# High levels of phytic acid in soy reduce assimilation of calcium, magnesium, copper, iron and zinc. Phytic acid in soy is not neutralized by ordinary preparation methods such as soaking, sprouting and long, slow cooking. High phytate diets have caused growth problems in children.
# Trypsin inhibitors in soy interfere with protein digestion and may cause pancreatic disorders. In test animals soy containing trypsin inhibitors caused stunted growth.
# Soy phytoestrogens disrupt endocrine function and have the potential to cause infertility and to promote breast cancer in adult women.
# Soy phytoestrogens are potent antithyroid agents that cause hypothyroidism and may cause thyroid cancer. In infants, consumption of soy formula has been linked to autoimmune thyroid disease. They also block thyroid medication, so people on those meds shouldn't have soy at all.
# Vitamin B12 analogs in soy are not absorbed and actually increase the body’s requirement for B12.
# Soy foods increase the body’s requirement for vitamin D.
# Fragile proteins are denatured during high temperature processing to make soy protein isolate and textured vegetable protein.
# Processing of soy protein results in the formation of toxic lysinoalanine and highly carcinogenic nitrosamines.
# Free glutamic acid or MSG, a potent neurotoxin, is formed during soy food processing and additional amounts are added to many soy foods.
# Soy foods contain high levels of aluminum which is toxic to the nervous system and the kidneys

Mr_SA I wouldn't worry about any of this. Any food source you will find a negative impact somewhere in the body, hence the reason balance to anything in life. Like some people speak about Milk Thistle, my mate is 145kgs, it certainly doesn't look like effects him, yet somewhere out there, you will find an article stating the negative impact of using it.

Enjoy your protein, use this information in a positive way and just keep a look out from other hidden sources and you will be fine!

Decent article pump, but at the end there his logic became a bit skewed. As much as he claims it, i wouldnt say it was a totally unbiased article. Pretty anti steroids too, and has made some poor deductions. Eg. his statement that soy slightly lowering test levels would result in a subsequent production of increased endogenous testosterone??? This is suggesting that the soy decreased those test levels by eating up the endogenous test maybe?? In reality it would be due to inteference with test production, and thus his positive feedback loop would be impossible...

Um, but im scared of needles...

How much is in a serving? Dr Kaayla (who wrote The Whole Soy Story) says that as little as 25g a day can damage your thyroid. I am sure your protein blend has much less than that though.
