Digestive Enzymes was created by Mr_SA
Hi All

How beneficial would it be to add a digestive enzyme to your Post Workout Shake?

I have been doing research on Bromelain, and it seem pretty neneficial.

Would the tablet form or the powder form be better?

I have also been researching Aminogen Powder, which seems like the god of all Digestive Enzymes?

Does anyone have an idea of how much Digestive Enzymes would need to be added to 100g protein powder??

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

The only time I see it as necessary is if you bloating, if you not your body isn't having a problem digesting it... If it is, 2 tabs is more than enough... Do not exceed 4 tabs a day, if you do going to the toilet will burn.

the only fruit that is high in digestive enzymes is pinapple, and fructose is not the first choice in carbs post work out as it replenishes glycogen in the liver first over muscle... also the onoly time u should need digestive enzymes is when you are hitting 4000-5000calories a day and over,my trainer and friend andrew hudson is consuming close on 8000 calories a day and doesnt have digestive enzymes in his diet!

Im just wondering, as most of the REALLY good Post workout protein have digestive enzymes in them (ON, BSN etc etc), so, if you buy a protein without it in, would it be a good idea to add it?

I was using a certain brand of protein post workout, which was giving me great results, and had the Aminogen already in, but was flipping expensive, so, i have gone for a bit of a cheaper protein, a locally made one, and it doesnt have digestive enzymes in it.
I dont take carbs post workout, as i have enough carbs during my workout, and i train at night. My body is VERY carb sensitive, so, i am very scared to have carbs after my workout.

After my workout, i have a protein shake, very low in carbs.
Ten an hour later, i have 250g Lean steak with green beans.
Then Cassien before bed.

I am currently on about 4000 calories a day for training days, high protein, low carbs and fats.

Does digestive enzymes not just seem better in the long run, if it will help your body digest and metabolise the protein better?

I use powder bromelain religiously post workout. I also eat a slice or two pineapple or papaya post workout for more enzymes.

I feel it does its job and it keeps my stomach healthy.

either pineapple or pawpaw contain Bromelain not sure now wich one as i learn it a while ago in my chef studies, bromelain can also be used to tenderise meat as it breaks down colegen and conective tissue in the meat, meat tenderises contain enzimes from either figs, pawpaw or pineapple. Just some interesting facs i know it has nothing to do with the post ;)
