But i really wanna knw is it that bad and why its not a good buy?

Need to get some whey, but i see SSN prices went up, and Evox still the same.

I don't really have any issue with it.. Not used it for awhile due to using basic supplements... But it's ok.. nice taste too..

Used it last month due to being tight on cash and in a fix with ordering, tasted like ass but apart from that it was fine, wasn't like i lost any muscle from lack of protein content or anything haha.. Avoid choc mint :X

LoL I like choc mint, but one a day at the most

And just use it till next month end and get back on my SSN wagon

Ethics. If you want to support them while they are blatantly ripping you off then thats your choice.

Bottom line is I don't use name branded stuff, I just eat what I need to eat and I supplement with what I can't get from food, aka some whey protein..

Does USN work? ya I'll say so, have they been busted in the past for false advertising protein? yup, have they been known to use cheap base? ye.. have I spoken to a USN rep while I was at the doctor and he said thats it crap? right again...

Look - i just love those Protein bars but i skip them because they are ripping me off.

I just ordered from BasicSuplements

Glutamine is R270/Kg
DisChem comes closest to this with BioGen on a moerofa special at R269.99 for 700g

You get an extra 300g for FREE from BasicSupps! Was so good i ordered 2 Kg's!

Then BCAA R350/Kg - The closest you get at DisChem is SSN at R170 for 250g!!

If a company takes raws and repackage with such a huge markup its UNETHICAL in my eyes.
BioGen's Glutamine special i will let slide but the rest?!??!! Seriously.

If your lab researches and produces bleeding edge nutritional supplements please feel free to charge those prices - i WILL pay(If they work). Take Animal Pak for instance - there has been some good scientific research to formulate that product. I support them - even at that price.

I tried USN Whey a while ago, tasted very bad. Not sure why the taste has changed over the years. Why don't you try Evox because DisChem is running a special at the moment

I buy the whey which is the best priced each month. Currently trying the whey from supplements SA. Its so sweet it burns my throught. Awfull! I mostly buy Evox since they are the best priced. Apparently biogen is bringing out a 3kg whey for R420 soon. I see SSN has dropped their whey price at dischem back to R369 or R359 for 2kg

I assume you are using the whey from basicsupplements. I've tried that. Cant get it im my body. Now i bite the bullet and buy palatable whey :sick:

*smile* you must be the type of guy that loves sweet tasting things, i'm a savoury man, and can eat curry / stew / etc all day long every day... I have 0 sweet tooth and I'd pay more for basicsupplement whey than I would USN and Evox, etc just because it has no flavour.. Taking down 3 to 4 shakes a day doesn't agree with me when its to sweet, one a day or once every second day maybe...

ABC: have you done like jack does, buy basic and half mix the two? This way you saving and you getting flavour.. Also when did you get your whey from basic, their new product is thick and I don't perticularly like it, however i believe they reverting back to the old one, YAY, excited about that.

I don't mind USN, they have improved over time. Some of the flavours are a bit wonky and for some reason whenever i have USN my tummy goes ape shit.

I stick to vanilla or variants of it. That way i can throw other stuff in without it tasting like crap.
Evox Cookies and cream is the berries. Everything else i get from Basic Supps.

i agree with 00pump, the only time i buy "commercial" whey is when i place my basic supps order abit late. And then i qhack every time i drink evox, no matter the flavour and the same with any other flavoured whey for that matter.

Plus i've grow quite fond of the new thicker whey from basic

During the 1st half of last year i use to buy whey from basic supps and evox and mix the 2. Too much of a hassle

I like their whey. the only whey i use. I get their whey cheaper from a connection so i like their banana and can never go wrong with their vinilla(who could fuck up that taste seriously)

I have used the basic supps and its great, just aint filterd enough for me, bloats me a bit. Taste is kinda nice.lol. And i have a sweet tooth.
U cant get better prices than basics bcaa,creatine,glutamine and they got a great mix of aminos with vitamins.
Was thinkin of mixing the usn with basic supps to get more bang for my buck.lol

There aint nothing wrong with USn, SSN or most of the others(except fkn evox, just dont like their products)
Whey is whey my friend. But if u got a thing against the money makers of the supplement world, or an ethical issue with the way they over charge us, then dont support them. just remember the guy that owns USN also sold creatine and whey out of his boot when he started up. A guy trying to help a couple of guys and make some profit.Now he is up there and cant give a fuck about the guys at the bottom.

Buy unbranded - stick to the basics you cant go wrong.

Jack is completely right, supp companies are a rip off, especially when you look at unbranded raw ingredients.
Once you've paid for the raw ingredients from China/India/Pakistan at stupidly cheap prices, the cost of packaging, sales reps, premises, commissions to stores like PnP etc etc you are looking at 400% increase.
The likes of USN spend about 60% of their resources on marketing, thats why so many people who have no clue about supplements go straight into PnP and just buy USN because its all they ever see. Hence why USN is so expensive.

Ever see the documentary Super Size Me about McDonalds - I did a similar thing with USN products, f*cked my stomach up ridiculously. Never shat so much in my life!


Back on topic - I recently bought 10kg glutamine for equivalent of R180 a kg, the more you buy the cheaper it gets! Stick to raw. Man up dude
