Creatine is a 'supplement', meaning you supplement what your body requires.. At 16 your body isn't fully developed ( that isn't a bad thing, just life ) but it means that due to organs not fully developed it is best not to strain them.. I would not advise creatine until you 20+.

If you learn diet now, you will get better results than your peers using creatine or anabolic steroids. And your body will be healthier too.. I don't see using gluatmine at your age is a problem at all, but I wouldn't use creatine, the last thing you want is in your early 20s and you have renal failure, and needing to go on dialysis for the rest of your life to clean your blood..

Technically no under 18's are allowed to post on the forum, but I guess the question is innocent enough...

Resistance training not being healthy for under 16's is a bit of a old wives tale.

Yes the bodys growth plates haven't matured and finished growing etc but providing technique and weight is appropriate and a sensible and conservative approach is taken then it's fine.

There's actually a lot of research stating that resistance training from the age of 1 is beneficial!

DC EVO there is benefit to training for health i do agree but 16 year olds using heavy weights to failure might not exactly be the greatest thing for the endocrine system

I 100% agree DJ, which is exactly why I stated about technique and a conservative approach to weight and progression :)
(also mentioned resistance training rather than weight training, often the 2 are confused as the same but can as you know be very different.)

Rather than the typical teenage gym rat who has terrible technique, no clue what they're doing and to cap it off has nobody in these commercial gyms to help put them on the straight and narrow.

A few will get Personal Trainers who then think the best thing is "functional" training with db curls on 1 leg on a BOSU ball.

Which is why I'm glad places like this forum exist and the members who take the time to help those that are truly interested and willing to learn :)

This is where you use the 12-16 rep approach, when you get older you can use the 6-8 rep range for max size
