Maize Supplements advice please! was created by trevorhattingh
Hi Guys,

First of all are ON Glycomaize and SSN Cytomaize similar products???? are they meant to do the same job????

I just need some advice on these two supplements. I am on my 2nd tub of Cytomaize and have been taking it during my workouts. I was led to beleive it helps with energy boosts and helps with pump too. I have just been given a free tub of ON Glycomaize and after reading some reviews i am wondering if i should take these supplements pre or post workouts or is intra OK? To further add will only be taking ONE of these supplements on training days. i am taking 100% Whey after workouts too

any other reviews on these products will be appreciated too.

thanks in advance for your help guys

As far as I have heard best to take it with your whey post workout, as it gives you an insulin spike which in turn helps to transport your protein quicker.

That is what makes a bodybuilder a true bodybuilder, and that is to be simply.....

Thanks for your reply David!

Yeah I heard about that too! Do you reckon that is the case for both the Cytomaize and the Glycomaize? Just wondering if these products are meant do do the same thing!? I was using the Cytomaize as a intra workout drink but if post with whey is better ill def be doing that!

Cytomaize and Glycomaize are more for Intraworkout.
And then Dextrose with your whey with your POST workout shake, as the Dextrose will spike insulin.

Give it a shot, you're only TESTing it...

IMO both a waste of money, Oats and raisins pre-workout, Post workout whey and glucose powder.
But cytomaize is more an intra workout drink than post or pre.
I always wondered why DJ and Pump don't really use pre-workouts, when I stopped them 3 weeks ago and only used Oats and Raisins I now know, the Oats gives you prolonged energy and great pumps, the raisins are quick release energy. Cheap and effective ;)

Thanks Koe007!

I def be giving that a try! I'm gonna finish my supps I got then change over to oats and raisins :)

How long before workout should I take it? Oats and raisins at the same time?

Just a quick one, depending on my workout the calories from the oats and the raisins should be burned off?
:S

45minutes roughly before your workout.
As you said... the calories depends on your workout.
The oats and raisins amount differs from person to person based on your diet and calorie requirements.

Give it a shot, you're only TESTing it...

I agree fully with the oats and raisins, i myself haven't use a preworkout since last year sept.

As for original q - they both exactly the same thing only ssn cytomaize have a few more goodies in there.

Thanks for the advice guys. If I go the oats and raisins route as a pre workout I will prob not use anything with my whey after I train due to too many calories. I want more gains in muscle mass but I still got some fat to lose! Recently lost about 20 odd kgs of fat! Haven't lost any muscle in the process, only gained and got a lot stronger. Just looking to take it that step further!

No u should still add sum glucose/dextrose to ur post workout shake.

But if ur counting calories u should be able to adapt accordingly to loose weight still

Yeah will have to eat a smaller supper then, leave out some of the carbs maybe? And then take dextrose with my whey after gym? Or would that be incorrect thing to do?

do us a favour and give us a break down of ur diet that way we can give better input. But essentially if ur aiming for a certain amount of calories and u wanna add in extra meals, u'll have to drop sum cals else where.

Haha yeah I guess it would help!

Breakfast 50g oats 7am
Snack banana and 100% whey 10am
Lunch chicken/tin tuna/ etc with brown rice etc and veg 12am
Snack fruit and coffee :/ 3pm
Gym 6:45pm (cytomaize)
Dinner 8:15pm
Snack 100% whey 9:30pm
Sleep time :)

I know this is not brilliant or even far from it but I am eating like this in order to maintian my fat %. Not sure how many calories I am supposed to be eating for all I know is this is maintaining my weight but I am building muscle mass! Currently 80kgs and 1.75 in height.

by the look of things u are way under eating. And the only thing measured there is ur oats. HAve a look at this thread by DJ

Dieting 101

Otherwise get hold of DJ to sort u out with a custom diet, but he does charge but its worth every penny.

But of the bat on ur current diet u need to:

add a Protein source at breakfast
Drop the fruit
add pre workout meal
add post workout shake
don't eat time for dinner
add peanut butter to last shake

U need to average about 5/6 small meals excluding the pre/post workout meals and shake.

Ok so i just tracked my calorie intake for today. it seems as though i only at +- 1662 calories :silly:

I have checked on a few sites and they all asying that to maintain my weig iht should eat 2529 calories a day based on my stats being: 24, 175cm, and 80kgs. So in order to add muscle mass i need to be eating for more then that.

:woohoo: i get to eat more food!

well this is all good i am so hesitant to do it as i dont want to go the way i was for so many years.... 107kgs! :pinch:

i guess i gotta overcome my fear and start eating! :)
