I'm currently using it, have been for the past few months. Works fine for me, and also, the fact that most brands charge roughly R370 for 2kg, paying R430 for 3kg (the Biogen ISO-whey) to me works out great.

Been using this for a couple past 2 years. Prefer it over the other local brands.

It's Dischems rebranded USN. Both is owned by Albie Geldenhuys. carte blanche also said that Biogen is USN a few months ago during the dimethylamine issues in sports.

Depends what flavour you want to use. Strawberry is a bit too bland in my opinion, but then again I only use vanilla flavour, as it's the flavour with the least extra additives and flavourants, and it's fine. Whey was never a supplement that should taste "amazing" to me, as long as the taste is okay, I'll drink it as long as I know it's good quality protein I'm getting.

I've always said I don't mind paying for quality. Thing is these big supplement companies are always looking for ways to cut costs, and that's how quality is done in. With bssa we atleast know we are getting a quality product, and that at a fraction of the price. Works for me ;)

I used biogen whey before, didn't like it. Had a little trouble mixing, the taste was ok tho. I prefer the whey muscle science makes. But like I said, I'm also done with brands.

Seriously? I just bought it last month for R430...could it be different pricing in different areas? IF not, then these prices are rising dramatically!

And I have also looked into Ondier's supplements, and while they're cheaper than what I buy, that R70 extra for shipping usually means it ends up being a bit more expensive, and being on a student budget means I can't afford to just have extra costs willy nilly.

If I were to take the unflavoured Whey concentrate from Ondier, it would work out at R330 for 3kg + R70 for shipping, so R400 in total. Which is cheaper, but correct me if I'm wrong, isn't isolate better? If that's the case, I know some local guys here that I can get unflavoured concentrate from for R120/kg, which works out cheaper because there's no shipping.

If one takes the Whey Isolate Ondier offers at R185/kg, that works out at R555 per 3kg, and that's before shipping.

I'm not disputing the quality of Ondier's supplements, in fact, had I had more money at this stage, I would've saved by buying Ondier's supplements in bulk. Unfortunately I can't afford that right now :( so buying branded is actually working out cheaper for me at the moment.

The R70 shipping really doesn't even come close to making it cost the same as branded supps. And isolate @R120? Lol u sure its not just concentrate deliberately "miss named" to isolate to sell better? But being a student and on a tight budget u shouldn't be worried about isolate and concentrate IMO. As long as u getting protein. U willing to pay more for less in the form of isolate yet complain over R70 added to concentrate.

I'm just saying.... :-)

Yeah, if you're using Muscletech or something of the sort, or even Muscle Science (For a South African brand, those guys are really expensive!)

Ondier: Creatine Ethyl Esther (CEE) R140/ 500g
Now this is a good price, except I don't like CEE, studies have shown that it converts to creatinine quicker than monohydrate. So I prefer monohydrate

Ondier: Creatine Monohydrate Crea-Pure R95 / 500g
Creatine Monohydrate R70/500g

So add shipping, they cost R165 and R140 respectively, I get Nutritech monohydrate for R120/500g
(I understand Crea-Pure is better, but hey, I can't be too picky right now!)

Ondier: Whey Concentrate unflavoured R110/kg

Add shipping, that's R180/kg, I get unflavoured concentrate for R120/kg

Whey Isolate Chocolate R185/kg, as I said, 3kg = R555, plus shipping = R625

I got Biogen Whey for R430/3kg (it's not just isolate, granted it has concentrate as well, but then it also has hydrolysate)

MCJ wrote: And isolate @R120? Lol u sure its not just concentrate deliberately "miss named" to isolate to sell better?

Read my post again, I said concentrate @R120, not isolate.

I understand, and please understand I was never knocking Ondier or anything, just pointing out that if I were to use his service right now, it would cost me more. And as I also already said, as soon as I actually have more cash to spend, I would order in bulk from Ondier, which would even work out cheaper for me then, and I am in no doubt of his quality. But I don't have that kind of money right now, so I can't.

Hey bud

Thanks for your input.

The R70 for shipping works out expensive if you take one item at a time. If you take all the mentioned items the shipping will still be R70. You don't pay R70 shipping per item. Some of my orders goes up to 15kg, and I pay R150 to get them delivered, but I still charge only R70.

Other orders works out around R50 for shipping, but I still charge R70. Since I've started delivering to the door, most of my shipping work out around R79.
I take it you walk to the pharmacy or Dischem. If you drive take off the R50 for fuel and the time it takes and you will realize R70 delivery to your door is not bad at all.

Try and save up a bit and buy ur supps in bulk from Ondier. In the long rung it will work out cheaper and the quality is way better than what u would get from any of the local guys. R70 shipping split over a few products is quite reasonable and you won't be disappointed. :)

Too sweet? Wow! My friend complained that it doesn't taste nearly too good (or sweet) enough for him (he was used to the USN version).

But yeah all in all, looking forward to start buying in bulk from Ondier!

Theodoric, I sympathise with your budgetary constraints. What you are missing though is that the Biogen whey container doesn't have 3kg of protein inside - the protein content is very low at 70% per gram, which is why the serving size is 39g to deliver 26.6g of protein, and you only get 77 servings from 3kg. I'm not sure what makes up the rest of the contents. Flour?

The BSSA whey isolate delivers 90 27g protein servings from 3kg, and is as pure as it gets.

I agree. I used some of Biogens products two years ago and was not impressed. To me, the best of the local bunch is Evox, but with Ondier around I don't need them either.
