Supplement Prices WTF?

Went into Dischem yesterday to stock up on KY and some whey. I was shocked to discover that there's been another round of price increases. The bog standard Evox whey banded pack that comes with an evil little twin attached now retails for over 400 bucks. That shit was 290 not too long ago and 350 after that just the other day.

When I started out 3 years ago, the big tub of SSN whey was 325. I still used it when the price was pegged at 360. Only when it moved up from there did I switch to Evox. I see the SSN is now pegged at almost 550. At this rate, the price will have almost doubled in under 3 years if it goes up again. This isn't Sparta - this is fucken madness!

Look I'm sorry but I refuse to pay anything over a coule of hundred bucks for a container of flavoured cheese by product. Maybe I should start to look elsewhere. I assume the other supps are up as well but I didn't check them as whey is the only supp I buy apart from creatine maybe once/twice a year. Most supps are pixie-dusted rubbish that don't do shit anyway.

KY was still the same price for those interested.

dryden so why not just by some Ondier whey? I don't understand why someone would go into a shop and buy a 'brand' when we have top quality available to us right here?

I still have loads of Ondier's whey Isolate, Gaba and all the other basics, he is by far cheapest, I buy every few months way cheaper.

Yeah I've already decided to do so from next month onwards. Personally speaking the slight difference in price didn't make up for the convenience of walking into a shop and buying what I want when I needed. But that's changed now. I can get twice as much for the same price it seems.

U'll still have to go in for KY though. Ondier doesn't stock that yet

Back in the day I bought 5 lbs ON Whey for R290, now look at the prices those go for.

I will just support Ondier, because these supplement companies are going mad with their prices.

Yeah supplement prices are an absolute disgrace. The prices are hugely inflated. Ondier's products and service are of top quality. No need to go elsewhere for me

There has been a world wide shortage of whey,hence the reason peices have gone up. Last i heard it was cheaper for sup companies to buy whey isolate that concentrate...

DJ's right - there is a shortage of whey at the momnent. Probably caused by all the noob's buying buckets full of the stuff and thinking now they are going to get big, just by drinking the stuff whilst not really gymming :lol:

I brought 3.17kgs of Supplement SA pure whey for 400 or 450 bucks the other day... that didn't seem to bad in my opinion, but yea prices have gotten bloody insane overall

So when they sort out this shortage will the prices drop again?

Who knows! My money is on .........NOT!

at the end of december i paid R399 for the same whey, now i see its R599

2 weeks ago I got 3x Jack3d containers for $ 23 each (about R185 for at the time).
I was lucky not to be charged for the shipping but had to wait 3 months!
This is while Dis-chem is selling it for about R 384 for one.
So I got it for R 552 and would have cost me R 1152 at the shop!

This is correct brother. Glanbia phoned me out of Ireland on Wednesday to apologise for the delay in delivery and also stated there is a world shortage.

I also spoke with their customized premix solutions department and looking to get all the L Glutamine, L Carnitine, BCAAs etc from them.

Will order small first but I believe it will be the same standard as their whey. Will keep you all posted.

PS: I had to decide this week whether it will stay a sideline or a new business venture and had to go for the latter as I can't keep up with the orders and my export business. So my wife quit her job this week to help me run stock control and dispatch items, starting Monday. Another step to run everything smoother

PSS: Excuse my ignorance but WTF is KY? I only know the jelly and that usually goes with a boud pil :pinch:

Was also wondering about the KY story on here. Lol. Just didn't want to ask.
