GSP wrote: again, I will focus on compounds here. I have come to learn that you need to keep shit as simple as possible. Struggling with bi's incorporate some weighted chin-ups into your routine. If you cannot do weighted chin-ups...then, well, youve got your answer right there dont you.

I always see people at gym doing these bullshit exercises incorporating different cables, ropes, weight balls etc; without incorporating any of the core compound movements such as squats, deadlifts, chin-ups/pull ups and the bench press. Ask yourself a question; have u ever seen a guy with scrawny legs being able to squat twice his body-weight (with correct form) or a guy benching 1.5 his bodyweight who has small triceps and/or chest. Well the same can be said with deadlifts and chin-ups. Unless you not hitting these mofos hard; you will struggle to make the size and strength gains you so desire. Focus on the chin-ups/deadlifts, followed by a few basic sets of barbell curls, and forget the spider curls, reverse curls, supermans and all the other crap being fed by Mens Health and all these other bs fitness magazines.

I can't agree with you more GSP. I haven't done bi's or tri's in years and I'm very happy with the size of my arms! I get some guys in gym coming up to me and asking what my arm routine is like and I say heavy deadlifts, bench, weighted chin ups, squats...and you can just see the confusion in their eyes when I tell them that. Guys need to realise that your body generally grows in proportion and no amount of curls is gonna give you big arms if you don't do the big compound lifts to increase your overall size.

Focus on your back, chest and legs with heavy compound lifts (with correct form or you wasting your time) and your arms will grow along with the rest

I'm a little surprised nobody mentioned this. Your bicep takes up only one third of your arm while your tricep takes up two thirds and is the more prominent muscle. If you are struggling to add size to your arms maybe you should try giving your triceps a little more attention and seeing if that works, especially considering the size difference between the two. Concerning the width from the front and back issue this is also a tricep related problem, go check out Phil Heath and how wide his arms are and then take into account his tricep size. This is a common misconception that have bigger arms is to have bigger biceps.

Bigger triceps = bigger arms

The guys who were talking about the mind-muscle connection have got it spot on, there is nothing more important to training than this IMO.

Cheers
