Elbow pain - Tennis elbow any help was created by Stevens
Hi guys,

I've had some hassles lately with my elbows. The tendon that is referred to as tennis elbow that runs up from your forearm and attaches to you elbow pain when doing most excersises that require lifting weights. Obviously barbell or even tri-extensions also hurt.

I am busy doing the iced/heatbag and also have a lady friend doing some deep tissue massage. Feels like shin splints on my forearm. I am also on a anti-inflammatory.

Any of you guys have any other advice or something I could try that would ease the pain.

From my research things that one could try that I have been doing -

1. Stretch your forearm by holding your arm out straight and pulling your fingers back and down.
2. Ice/heatbag
3. Deep tissue massage
4. Anti-inflammatory
5. Rest(difficult one for me to do at the moment)

I have also been trying a strap on my elbow when training, but it is only about 15% effective. Tried placing the strap on different parts along my forearm and elbow.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Brother I have the same problem. My problem began with arm wrestling and to many isolation exercises for biceps, basically causing imbalances and excessive strain on the elbow flexors. For the last few years I haven't done any isolation for my arms except some body weight dips and close grip benches. These are basically tricep exercises but I use them for chest and not focus solely on triceps per say. My arms are still keeping up despite the fact that I don't train them in isolation. I train other body parts and try to do body weight rows, pull ups of all variations, pushups etc. To basically try and balance the imbalances. This has worked well in strengthening my arm in a functional way and in keeping the elbow at bay and soon I will start to incorporate isolation work for my arms again without over working my elbow flexors and causing extra inflamation. It also helps to strengthen your under arms with grip exercises, Obviously when tennis elbow strikes there isn't really something you can do except for some damage control, cause trying to do anything hurt like a mofo. The stuff you are suggesting is good and obviously it needs rest.

Only thing that helped for me was acupuncture treatment and rest.

Ice/Heat works wonders but you have to rest.
