GVT Training was created by AlexRon
Hi All

The latest issue of Muscle Evolution has a write up on GVT training which looks like something I would like to try out, but im bit confused as to what and when as in:

GVT is 10reps for 10 sets with a weight that does not allow failure, my question is this for those of you doing GVT

Do you only do this once a week on using compound?

As in next week ill do squats say on Tuesday night or Monday night and then not touch GVT again till next Monday night where ill use GVT for deadlifts?

Im a bit lost on the routine here?

Any advice welcome

I understand the percentage increase as well as the rest period increase, but don't understand the program routine

Leave GVT for when you have been training a bit longer. Just stick to the basics instead of breaking yourself on a programme like that, which I personally hate.

Go look at MAX-OT rather.

To you it may look like I just did a push-up... But in fact, I just bench-pressed the world.

This is abit hectic if you just started out

I do half of my 1RM 10 sets 10reps but only with lagging body parts

And as Chapel said, you will break yourself so this shouldn't be considered @ present

Atleast a year hard training is my opinion.
A mate wanted me to join him with the same program but i declined cause im feeling my normal workouts still.

Your joints and tendons will probably disagree with you.

So I tried (being the key word after the advice given was to not try it), GVT today, decline bench press and chin ups 10 x 10

Bench press went well but I started with the wrong weight, so after 5 sets I went up an extra 3kg's per barbell

By the 10th set I was starting to feel it, but not to the point where I was very sore, think I could have gone heavier.

As for chin ups, best I could do was a total of 23, so much for hitting 100.

With regards to pushing my body, GVT feels like something I could do, but I think maybe in 6 months time or a year, as nice as GVT sounds, Chapel is right about the body not being ready for it.

AlexRon, don't be so hasty to try exotic training systems... These systems have their place in an experience lifters arsenal after conventional training methods have stopped working (10+ years). I've seen many beginner lifters heading down the same road as you are and it hadn't ended well.

Concentrate on getting stronger on your main compound exercises from workout to workout, get your form 100% correct and most importantly, get to know your body & how it reacts. You'll pack on the muscle since you are a beginner... Just be patient, weightlifting is like a marathon

I think its the part where, everywhere I read about GVT, the words "Pack on Muscle Mass quick" seems to draw me in!!!

And it seems to work from what ive read on a few sites

Is that not what we all want? to put on muscle mass, the one site said anything from 4-5kg of muscle mass in 6 weeks?

I mean WOW!!!

4 to 5 kg in 6 weeks while training clean..? I'm sorry to burst your bubble Bud but that's not going to happen as long as you have a hole in your ass.
Besides your cutting at the moment and eating at a deficit so training to gain muscle is a waits of time and only risking injury.

To be honest that's overall gain fat and water and muscle. I don't believe that 10 pounds of raw muscle gain be gained with out anabolics etc even on that program

Ye if your on gear and eating @ a surplus... NOT clean while eating at a deficit.

Common Bro. Train according to your goals. if you seriously think your going to cut more than 10% BF and gain 6kg of muscle while dieting you haven't listened to a word we've all been telling you.

I agree with you both, but allow me to ask the stupid questions so that others may read and learn from it, we have so many people on the site and no one seems to ask enough questions, is everyone afraid to ask stupid questions or are you all just too smart and know it all??

Im asking as im not sure on this but what is the most muscle in mass one can actually put on in a year od hard work and eating correctly? maybe 5kg?

Naturally or chemically. I have seen some posts about dogg crapp training of guys putting on between 15-20kgs a year. Granted its with the use of chemicals and and what not but it is possible. Naturally I will go with 2-4 if that in a year

But also there are no stupid questions Alex but at rhe same time common sense is key. If are cutting body fat and u are eating less calories than u need u can't out on muscle In this time. To grow u need to add calories to build muscle. So its just common sense

Bud you need to take it step by step meaning that you need to cut fat first then eat above maintenance train like a beast maybe hit a cycle and grow like a weed.
If you try to bulk while already having a high BF you'll just look like the Oros man. If you keep on track as you have been by your progress pics within a couple of months you'll be ready to cycle and then 5kgs or more isnt out of the question this year.

And no question is to stupid we are all here to learn.
