Leg Press Pain/Form was created by T-Style
Hi guys

I need some input here please with regards to leg press.
I did legs yesterday and I really gave it what for so I'm a bit tender this AM.
Now the pain is in a rather weird place in both legs. The pain in just below the hips and almost at the very start of the quad and .....not so much groin area but close. This is Def muscle pain and not an I jury. Am I doing something wrong or is that normal in cases where one over does the weight and destroys this massive muscle?
It's weird because when I walk it's ok but when I lift my legs to get up from a laying down position it does hurt a bit.

Thanks

It's not exactly my quad but more like my Satorious but right at the top.
Hope someone can give me some insight.

That sucks bud I've had that a few times. Your quads are made up of a group of muscles but only 1 of them, rectus femoris crosses over the hip joint. So during hip flexion on the leg press this can take some heavy strain and get injured quite easily when maxing out on the weight.

This muscle is not used as much as the other quad muscles during the squat, so it is easy for this to become a weak point and develop a strength imbalance in your quad muscles making you more prone to injury when you leg press heavy. Especially because you generally load more weight on the leg press.

It sounds like you have pain where the muscle is joined to the tendon so take it easy for 2 weeks. Tendons take longer to heal than muscle. You might feel fine with most leg movements with a rectus femoris strain but don't let that fool you to thinking it's not important to take it easy. I've strained this quite badly before by underestimating slight pain.

Wow ok I hear you and thanks so much for the input.
Think I should possible just go hack squats at light weight and leg extensions next 2 weeks or so I keep strain off that area MA?

It really depends how bad it is so it's hard to guess over the internet. Leg extensions target your rectus femoris so be careful. Best would be to rest quads for a week, maybe just doing some light pump work, and focus on your hammies. But if it's not too bad and you can squat then keep the squats lighter and keep them above parallel until it's completely healed.
