Hey guys.

How many of you guys combine strength training with your general hypertrophy training?

I have been playing around with this and I have been doing a heavy lifts to start a session: bench press, military press, pull downs/ Weighted chins, bent over rows and then for arms close grip bench press and straight barbell curls.

Been doing a bit of 3x3 and 5,3,1 type of reps for the start of the session and then going into the usual 6-12 range stuff.

Have to admit that I have found a new respect for strength athletes.

I do it from time to time. I find it tough on my joints and wrists though

It is on you. It always has been...

I do this, especially in bulking session.

For me, the purpose is to be able to lift more weight as you progress, so that you can put more strain on the muscles, and to be able to do that you have to work on your strength ....so that when you get to your hypertrophy range sets, you can lift more weight eventually.

But that is just me B)

Strength training is a great idea if you're looking to increase the amount of weight you can lift , however not necessarily true when it comes to body building . Strength training does have its place in my eyes , usually around the off season for a few weeks as it generally puts more strain on the ligaments and joints , so I try to limit it while getting the maximum results saught after in the shortest period of time .

The best way to create new muscle fiber is to tear down existing tissue so that it can rebuild bigger and better , many guys lift heavy weights with the wrong form which is completely detrimental to muscle building and causes tons of injury . Many people are also under the impression that heavy weight creates bigger muscle , which is not true . The more time you spend under tension the more fiber you break down , the better the muscle grows back when recovered .

Life's a journey of living and learning , inspiring , helping and most if all discovering yourself
