Hi Guys,
I am hoping you can assist in my dilemma.
Situation:
Whenever I train legs, mainly squat (whether free squat, hack squat or barbell squat) and at times leg press and lying leg curls my lower back pains almost like a pump or muscle cramp and leaves me needing to lie down flat on the floor until pain is bearable. This also happens with deadlifts and at time with standing side raises (shoulders).
This has been an ongoing issue since I started training in 2015. Beginning of 2016 I hired a personal trainer to assist in form which didn't really help much, although my form improved the pain was still there. My wife constantly checks my form (I asked her to) as she is a certified personal trainer and she doesn't see anything wrong with my form either but yet the pain.
I never had any back injuries as a kid with sports or anything else, never did any sport as a teenager except skateboarding (never broken or injured anything).
I went for back x-rays in April this year and x-rays showed no spinal issues or muscle issues.
I recently started to do stretch exercises before training legs and back to stretch the muscle but this just causes my back to be sore before I train.
However, I usually start with Squats after a quick stretch and warm up session, then lie down for a bit till the pain is manageable, then I roll out my back at the gym. Then I do leg press and lunges then the pain is gone.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I am 30 years old at 111kg 20-25% bf.
