Got this in an email.

  1. If Apple were a nation, its GDP (annual revenue) would be ranked 58th in the world among the 227 nations that report GDP. In fact, Apple’s GDP is more than the OPEC nations of Kuwait, Ecuador, Libya, and Iraq. Its GDP is bigger than the entire nation of New Zealand... and it’s more than the GDPs of Panama, Costa Rica, and Jordan — combined!
  2. With its cash, Apple Computers could buy the entire American automobile industry (Ford and General Motors)... and still have over $60 billion left in the bank.
  3. Apple could send a check to every American in the amount of $354.00.
  4. More people visited an Apple store in the last quarter than attended all Major League Baseball games in 2011.
  5. Apple sold 26 million iPhones in the third quarter. Texas, the second largest state in the U.S. by population, has 25 million residents. Do the math: Apple is selling 288,888 iPhones every day… 200 every minute… 3.3 every second.
  6. Apple has 60,000 employees. With the cash it has in the bank, it could buy each of its employees 14 top-of-the-line Mercedes SL550s.
  7. Apple’s cash pile is more than the annual revenue of IBM.
  8. Apple’s annual net profit is nearly 50% higher than McDonald’s total annual sales.
  9. By market cap, Apple is worth more than the combined market caps of Disney, Toyota, Honda, JP Morgan, and Anheuser-Busch.
  10. With its cash, AAPL could buy the entire publicly-traded American airline carrier industry — U.S. Air, American Airlines, United, Southwest, JetBlue, Delta, and Alaska Air — and still be sitting on $90 billion.
  11. Apple could buy every single NFL, MLB, and NBA team outright… and still have $57 billion leftover to party with!

I dunno guys, I thought about it but laptops are far too overpriced in general so i decided to spend that money building a desktop pc that will put the next generation macbooks to shame never mind this generation and took the money I saved and bought a 40" full HD 3D tv to use as a monitor...it really doesn't get any better than that lol

Sounds nice, but you are still stuck with Windows

No alienware fans hear ?:p checked the new retina macbook pros at my local istore, they are as amazing as you guys describe but personally for all the ease of use, its almost patronizing if you get what i mean ?

Windows clearly have no idea what they're doing with windows 8, it looks dreadful ! And incredibly overpriced in comparison to the flat $19 for snow leopard.

If some developer company could build an absolutely solid ide for the mac range (not xcode or radstudio) id consider the switch.

aspoester, what don't you like about Xcode... the crashing perhaps?

What do you currently use... Visual Studio?

At least Xcode is free now.

haha it depends what you use ur pc for, i use mine primarily for gaming so win 7 suites me just fine...if i were doing graphic design or something similar then mac is the obvious choice

After gaming with 2x gtx560ti SLI in 3D i could never go to a macbook pro, its like comparing a M3 to a ferrari both are nice but one's clearly better

The new Macbook Pros have a factory overclocked geforce gt650m that benchmarks better than a gtx660m so gaming is pretty good. I've played Skyrim at 2880x1800 on 'very high' with AA off and it is surprisingly smooth. Modern Warfare 3 on max settings looks great as well.

im not going to lie thats surprisingly good! but for the price you are paying i just dont believe it is worth it, playing MW3 on max and playing something graphic intensive like battlefield 3 on max or ultra are two completely different things

I guess it comes down to personal preference(desktop-laptop)(windows-Mac) in the end but you wont find me forking out 22k for something that you can build yourself for R14 000 even less if you know where to shop

Jip exactly that, i don't wanna sit for hours on end and then crash to desktop (yes i save every 30min) but even 30min of work when you're in your zone so to speak is too much time wasted... Also ive had compiler translation errors in the past when running the translated code back on unix. Its a pitty though, but you pay for the extra stability in the mainstream ide's.

Yeah visual studio's translation libraries can be tweaked to say the least, tuks uses a auto assessment tool called fitchfork which is incredibly sensitive to what libraries are used. All functions and units written are assessed using some fancy proprietary algorithms. A few of us managed to port most unix modules and now just code on visual studio :)

Theres some interesting projects underway on sourceforge at the moment, will add alot to the ios/osx developer platform :)
