Att Braai Ouens: Your Weber thoughts was created by beemer
Hi,

We have an outside braai but its cold and lonely braaing there during winter. Was thinking of getting a weber and braaiing on the patio. Just been to Makro and they have (from right to left on the pic):

Compact Kettle - R1299
One Touch - R1599
One Touch Gold - R2499

Does anyone have any of these? And which is the one to go for?

i also have a gas braai, its so much quicker and easier and you still get that good braai flavour from the open flames

Don't get me wrong, gas braaiers are awesome, but so is a webber:whistle: plus the webber uses so little charcoal and takes mere minutes to get it started!

Builders Warehouse! Get a cadac braaier almost exactly like the one touch weber bro. I think I paid R899 that time on special, should be around R1100-R1200

Lets go!

I hear what you guys are saying about the gas braai, but I think that takes the fun out of braaing. I need something smaller and more portable - need to be able to easily move around the garden, if need be.

Got a gas oven though

The middle one is probably the one touch silver, best value of the weber crowd. The compact is for metro sexuals.

What's so bad about the compact one? The more compact the better I would think?

Does anyone have issues with the ash dust blowing off that silver pan?

Hi Beener,

nothing wrong wiht the compact one but when you start doing roasts or 'beer birds' then you want the deeper belly.

I would go for the middle one!!!

Gas is also lekker but i find it to be more work to clean if you cooking things with lots of sauce.

Bros, if you want to braai the proper way you only need a piece of diamond mesh (or braai grill if you are fancy) and three bricks.

That's the only way I braai, these weber contraptions are too feminine. Gas braais are for the yanks and ausies. Charcoal is for trains and eskom, what you need is kameeldoring wood... however those are illegal to use as fire wood, so don't drive out of town and chop down a tree next to the road, because you will go to the slammer.

Okay, I've got the best of all worlds.
Weber, Gas and wood with a mesh over.
For taste go for wood, for a quick semi proper brain go weber and for supper every night go gas.

Thanks guys.

Bought me the One Touch Gold (R2499) for Father's Day, and used on Sunday with the family over. Braai was done within in hour, considering the coals died on me (closed the vents too much). Had trouble using the weber for the garlic bread though.

Planning on doing my first fish braai this weekend. Any recipe tips?

First time I hear of fresh dill. Can you get this at your local shops?

Also, was thinking of braaing a snoek. Is it best to braai it open or close?
