JR, the best is Mikrotik, but you have to build them to you needs and then configure RouterOS which is not easy unless you have allot of experience with routers.

What exactly are you using the router for and how is the network setup?

Ok, but you will use it to provide 3G internet around the house? Or will in be an ADSL router with 3G as backup internet? Do you need 802.11n WIFI or is b/g fine?

Exactly that - main ADSL with the 3G backup - for now anyway. There are some nice 3G deals out there but i dont have coverage. Would love to get rid of Telkom.
Wireless N.

Ok, mikrotik doesn't have internal support for ADSL, so you need to connect an external ADSL modem... that will not work for you as it will make things very complicated.

My advice is to buy this router: Billion BiPAC 6200NXL

The Billion BiPAC 6200NXL doesn't have an internal 3G modem, so you will attach a standard USB one to the USB port on the modem.

There are cheaper option where you have a separate ADSL modem + 3G USB modem + Planet WNRT-617G.

However, I'm one of those that like to have one device that can do it all but it can be more expensive.

You could also just use any normal adsl router and share the 3g via a normal usb dongle pluged to the laptop! I'm sure netgear ec are awesome routers but for general house use its absolutely overkill! Go with one of the billion routers that supports your needs!
