High BP

I went for a checkup at my doc today, and first had a prelim with the nurses. So they put a BP cuff around my bicep, which pops off as expected. Then they bring the XXL one, and my BP goes off the scale. 140/103 :ohmy:

I reluctantly accepted this, and when I had my time with the doctor, I mentioned the high readings. But also that the velcro strip on the cuff sounded like it wanted to let go big time.

At this point I probably need to say that my 9-year old daughter was with. The doc informs us that too tight a cuff can cause a fake high, so he grabs this proper unit out of storage. I score 123/80, and everyone smiles. And then the kid asks why he doesn't use THAT cuff all the time. The doc told her it's actually a leg cuff...

Bottom line? Make sure it fits.

Bow big an arm are we talking here? Had blood pressure tested for yesterday. That thing felt like it was gonna make my arm pop. Felt really tight and uncomfortable. Even painfull.

Also got a high reading. Hope it is a false one!

Was the same with me. The velcro was tearing apart, and the cuff was squashing my bicep.

The article mentions >33cm guns, but mine is around 50cm. The difference with the normal arm cuff and the leg cuff was that my BP went from 140/103 to 123/80 within a minute.

If it was just a routine checkup, I would probably have accepted the higher reading, and put it down to creatine or pre-workout buzz, but this visit was for a visa application. I really didn't want it to fail, and shiver to think what could have happened if the doc wasn't aware of false high readings.

Im in the same range as you and got simmilar readings yesterday. Will have it retested as i am going on cycle and is a bit paranoid about my bloodpressure. Have been getting these strange headaches the day following my deadlift day as well.

So ja will def check.

Was the nurse attractive? That might also explain the high blood pressure.

Wouldn't that have caused low BP in my arm, with all the blood draining to the nether region?

But no. She was big and friendly, but not hot.
