Sterile abscess!

So I injected last monday - 4ml (1ml cyp, 2ml vit B12, 1ml Bcomplex)

There is still swelling around the area - its like a bump and its kinda hard, no pain, but discomfort when I sit on it or squat down low...

Could it be a sterile abscess?

Its not round, its the form of an egg, but the "area" is about as long as two eggs.

An abscess forms from bacetria passing through the skin so how can it be sterile, bacteria loves water based products such as b12 and complex, it maybe a hematoma but that will happen from high BA in the injectables such as cyp, maybe you didn't clean the area properly, so take some anti inflams such as cataflam and voltaren and see if it goes down,if it doesn't look at getting broad spectrum anti biotics such as augmentum

I heard that sterile thing from 00pump or jackrabbit? Something about the oil not dispersing properly and it forms a ball that just stays there and doesnt clear...

What complications can I possibly face?


Cataflam does help temporarily...

Then go on to the augmentin, should kill the bacteria

Does the fact that it was worse make a difference?

Cos it was waay more swolen the day after the shot?

If its coming down then just stick with taking anti inflams and it should go away.

I had to sit on a painfull lump for a 26hr trip to South America. I took ibuprofen and it only started to go away after 10 days

How long is it safe to take 15mg of coxflam daily? Ive been on it for like 5 days already...

I've got the same issue mate. Right glute from last Mondays pin. A lump the size of about half an egg. I pinned cyp, complex and b12 all in one shot. Going to start taking an anti inflammatory... Hopefully it sorts both of us out, I bet neither of us feels like a lecture in the doctors office

Apparently if it's an oil ball then you will need surgery to get rid of it. How much did you inject Gorillaz (one of my fav bands growing up)?

I always said DON'T mix oil and water it will cause an abscess but many tried to argue, Std 8 science oil and water don't mix.

Oil + water will not cause an abscess. Blood and oil also do not mix.

The term "sterile abcess" is used in some articles. I think "Cyst" is a better word. This cyst doesnt contain puss but the oil you injected. Its still early stages. If its Hematoma it will probably be reabsorbed. If a cyst? who knows - if it stays - drain with needle and surgery. Just dont inject more oil when you aspirate and find darker old oil.

Sounds like a nasty business! But its definitely getting better, taking coxflam 7.5mg twice daily, will see what happens

I injected bcomplex once to fast and it caused the same problem for a couple months (hard lump in right glute). Never had a problem when injecting the test.

Whilst that may be true the risk of infection by mixing the oil and water is definitely increased, water based steroids alone are a high risk for bacterial growth, read this on another forum and kinda explains it better:

"It seems when you mix the two that air mixes with the water more than usual. The water creates an environment for bacteria to grow, the air bubbles allow aerobic bacteria to possibly be introduced to your muscle - the oil acts as food for the bacteria."

I know it's possible and you may not get an abscess, but why risk it? An abscess is no joke and not worth any additional risk taking to get one.

Fair point koe, ill start using different syringes for the cyp and b12. appreciate the insight

I disagree, mixing water based with oil based is not increasing the risk of an infection any more than injecting them separately. In fact, injecting them separately will double your chance of getting an infection, because two holes = twice the risk. If there's already bacteria in the water based injectable you are going to get an infection anyway whether you mix the two injectables or not.

The air bubble argument is also pointless, because you will inject air into a vial of oil as well to create a high pressure inside the vial so that you can draw easier, so if there is bacteria in the air you will contaminate the vail anyway. And if you do not inject air into the vial to begin with you again increase the risk of contaminating your vial, because a negative pressure inside the vial will only cause air to slowly leak through the puncture holes in the vial's rubber stopper and this might potentially suck bacteria into the vial as well.

So what do you guys think? Maybe you just hit a bad spot and the oil took a while to move?
Gorilla you said you only injected 1ml.... thats weird.

i think JR was right. it was probably a hematoma and was reabsorbed. i also had bruising around it. which is also much better
