Hi guys

Anyone know the Vodafone Webbook? How is it? I see Vodacom has a clearance sale - Vodafone Webbook + K3772 USB Modem + 500MB date per month for R99PM x 24.

I just need it for the basics like facebook, email and internet banking. No fancy stuff.

It'll work for very basic stuff but its really slow!
The hardware is awful, too slow for low res video even.
Runs on Limux

If you really just need the basics then its fine

I checked the specs, and for what you want to use it i think it would be fine? For browsing the limitation shouldn't be the hardware, but rather the connection speed. I also checked the price is now half of what it was before, taking it over 24 months. Cash price around R1500 .

Some things to consider though,
1: 500mb is like the min you would get away with. Some smartphones chow that up in like 2 weeks.
2: If you are going to start using it for more than browsing, the linux is going give you some fun times if you don't it.

Personally, i would look for some tablet deals. It don't have to be an ipad. There are some cheap tablets out there that might fit your needs, and it is then portable. Some mini tablets go for like R1000, but just make sure it can take a sim.

Good luck bud.
