Tennis "freakin'" Elbow was created by beemer
Hi All,

It's official. I have Tennis Elbow. :(

I've been to 2 physio treatments and have recently gone with for a cortisone injection. I've been advised to drop my maximum weight by 70% and to do high reps only, limited the use of free weights. And also do wrist curls, with bench support, to strengthen the tendon. I've been advised not to take any medication.

It's amazing how much inconvenience this injury can cause. I need to get in shape in preparation for a bulking cycle.

Has anyone else had this injury?
How long did it take to heal?
Have tips to speed up recovery?

Thanks

Hi there
Sorry to hear about this.

I was under the impression that this is due to inflammation. May I ask what tendon you need to strengthen?

Also, Rest would be the best option, corticosteroids will aid in the healing process.

I suffered thru this ( too old to wank BTW Ian :P ) for about a year. Heavy bar bell curls and heavy fly's seem to cause mine, but I bought a tennis elbow strap from Dischem, dropped the aggravating exercises and persevered. It seemed to go by itself, maybe not the best advice, but there was no way I could not allow myself not to train. If I even feel a twinge, I stop the exercise and supplement with another one.

That's what I'm currently doing - substituting for exercises that does not cause pain. Any lifting with an overhand grip kills me - shoulder press, front raises, deadlifts, rows, curls is a definite no-no for me :(

But what causes the most incovenience is working at my desk all day.

Will look into the tennis elbow strap. Thanks

I have been fighting tennis elbow from something really stupid I did in November :S and now I still can't lift heavy at all or it starts hurting. It's really demotivating, but I have been resting and I have to go very light on benching, shoulder press, curls and lateral/front. The only thing that will really work is rest but staying out of gym is not easy. I got a cortisone injection but that didn't do much at all. Probably need regular shots for them to really work. I've had to delay my cycle which I was supposed to start beginning of February. Sucks! I've never had problems with my elbow before so hopefully it will heal asap. I don't have extra cash right now for peptides but there are quite a few peptides that would help repairing tendons. If it doesn't come right that's what I'll be doing.

Have you tried the tennis elbow brace? It really helped me.

Edit: I really pull it tight for the set, then release it to allow blood flow while resting between sets.

I think my cortisone injection also worn off after 2 weeks. I'll probably continue with the physio once a month to stimulate recovery. But I hear you. I can't even do front raises with a 4kg DB.

I'm currently lifting in the 15-20 rep range but it still doesn't feel like I had a workout. But I need to make sure I don't loose my gains.

MA, care to elaborate a bit more about which peps?

@Beemer, think FB's advice most relevant for now. I had a messed up shoulder and avoided all military press. just substituted other exercises in that didn't hurt but got the variety.

Speedy recover.

For bang vs buck the best peptide for speeding up the healing process is probably IGF1. If money was no object I would be doing GH. Other peptides I would want to try for healing are TB500 and BPC157. Those are hard to get but the best 'healers' of the lesser known peptides. Google them and you'll find some amazing info. A GHRP+CJC combo will also make a huge difference to the healing process.

Thanks MA. I've been doing Ipam+CJC for a good few months now. Think I'll up the frequency. After I'll try GH. Read about some good results with MGF and IGF toggles but those micro dosing's an IA injections are a bit off-putting. If i have any other Q's for you I'll open my own thread, before I butcher beemer's thread too badly.

Tennis elbow (tendinitis ) is a real bitch and is easily caused because we use the forearm muscles so often for various movements.
There's a new treatment that the physio's at sports science centre are using in Newlands Cape Town.
It's called Shock Wave Therapy (google), it uses sounds shock waves to break down the overlapped scar tissue in your forearms therefore smoothing out the muscle and making it less tight.
This therapy has really worked for me, and at R180 a session is not too dear either.
4 to 5 sessions should be enough in most cases.

i have had this, i had it in both my elbows,it was so bad i couldnt do a tricep push-down with 2 plates it was so painful... the only thing that cured this for me was acupuncture to the elbow tendon. let me tell u this,i cried for 25minutes non stop each session because it was so painful, a needle into the tendon to try and increase blood flow is excruciating... that combined with 3iu of gh a day after a session was the only thing that worked.
