Its not that simple, there is a calculation made but there is also a physical measurement of inductance. But yes its just crazy charging people for it.

Yes a "pulse" that gets sends through the feet then gives a value worked out by measuring the resistance in the body. Probably goes faster if there is more muscle? Not sure, so many things that has to be taken into account.
