I've been following a Keto diet (not a strict one [50g max]). I'm on my 6th day right now. I've lost some fat in my tummy area as I've only been jabbing there(I donno, it could be the placebo effect). I haven't weighed. I'll do that tomorrow(1 week). My avatar show my progress so far. I'ma be taking some ECA after my 14th day. But that's unrelated to this. I'm on about this Keto diet story. Since I can't find much info on this, I wanted to know:

Can I chow/drink the following:
1. Wors
2. Mincemeat
3. Savannah Dry
4. That chilli biltong they sell at Spar
5. I & J burgers
6. Coke Light/Zero
7. Chewing Bubblegum
8. Rooibos tea(2.5 sugars)
9. Nesquik
10. Tub Ice cream
11. Chicken Licken
12. Nandos
13. Nandos sauces
14. Chutney
15. Chilli peppers
16. Curry (with meat. No potatoes and shit)

Another thing. How often can I cheat? Yes I know that's a messed up question to ask but I'm too greedy and I'm starting to feel like I should have some samoosas or curry.

Last question. If I chow carbs, but my calorie intake is low, can I compensate by doing some intense cardio?

1. Yes
2. Yes,
3. No (Rather go for brandy and coke zero if you must. remember alcohol gets used first as energy)
4. Yes
5. As long as it's only meat or fish and no crums
6. Yes
7. Sugar free yes
8. no sugar - tea is fine
9. NO
10. NO x2
11. Rather not
12. Yes but in moderation - their basting has sugar in it I think
13. Yes
14. Yes - also in moderation
15. Yes
16. Yes

This type of diet really doesn't allow for a lot of cheating - remember you are teaching your body to use fat for energy instead of carbs - this takes 4 days minimum - so by cheating, you basically start all over again.

And doing cardio won't really help after eating carbs to get you back in to ketosis - it might speed it up a little.

Pyro is the guru on this - go read his threads.

Good luck - it's well worth it

Rather avoid wors, it has fillers that can be loaded with carbs.

I don't think keto is your best bet, there is very little wiggle room...

Hudlim - why no to mince?
And yes water is the best thing to drink - but what's wrong with coke zero? or any zero calorie, zero sugar drink?

Just my opinion bud. To me, mince offer very little nutritional value compared to other sources. I'd much rather go for chicken. Also, for mince to taste good you need to add a lot of spice and sauce. Loading more calories to your diet. Most mince has a high fat content too.

As for the coke zero:

Coke Zero Health Risks

Coke Zero is a diet soda that contains no sugar or calories, but is advertised to taste more similar to regular Coca-Cola than Diet Coke. While this makes it a popular choice for individuals trying to watch their weight or avoid sugar, some of the ingredients in the product may pose health risks to some individuals. Consult a doctor if you are concerned about the way Coke Zero may affect your health.

Aspartame

Aspartame, popularly known as NutraSweet, is a sugar substitute found in many no-calorie, no-sugar sodas, including Coke Zero. A 2005 European study conducted by the European Ramazzini Foundation suggested there may be a link between aspartame and cancer, but the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, or FDA, questions the validity of this study and maintains the position that aspartame is safe. The FDA says the only individuals who should avoid this sugar substitute completely are those with the genetic disorder phenylketonuria.

Nutritional Value
While Coke Zero does not contain any calories, fat, carbohydrates, cholesterol or sugars, it also provides no nutritional benefits. The drink does not contain any protein, fiber, vitamin C, vitamin A, calcium or iron. This is particularly a concern for young people, who may substitute Coke Zero for beverages such as milk, which would provide them with much-needed calcium, vitamin D and protein.

Weight
Although research is conflicting, it is possible that drinking diet soda may cause you to gain weight. Sweet-tasting soft drinks, such as Coke Zero, may stimulate your appetite for other sweet foods or throw off your body's ability to accurately estimate the number of calories you consume, speculates Harvard's School of Public Health website. More research is needed to accurately determine how drinking diet soda may affect weight. In the meantime, you should carefully monitor your own weight and appetite if you decide to consume Coke Zero on a regular basis. Talk to your doctor if you notice any changes or have any specific concerns about this issue.

Caffeine
The caffeine in Coke Zero may also pose certain health risks. Although the amount of caffeine in this soda is relatively small when compared with a cup of coffee, some individuals may be sensitive to the effects of caffeine and experience unpleasant side effects from it. These include pregnant women and individuals with certain medical conditions that cause the body to metabolize caffeine more slowly than usual. These individuals should use caution and monitor their overall caffeine intake to avoid consuming too much. Caffeine may cause unpleasant side effects, such as restlessness, irritability and difficulty sleeping, especially when consumed in excess.

I'm not a fan of fizzy drinks at all. Drop them and you will start feeling better than ever! Trust me.

Opt for Manhattan ICE tea LITE when you feel like having a sweet drink.

It has zero sugar, and zero Calories.

Hudlim i must say you are half right but with mince if u make it really basic i get more down than a steak or chicken fillets. You must try chicken mince, chicken fillets minced i get like 250g of chicken in per serving instead of the usual 180-200 just because its not so dry. Therock No drinking on cycle nothing at all your kidneys will k@k off.

Thanks will do.

Do you have a recipe I could try with the chicken mince?

Yeah, drinking while on cycle will NOT be good. I've had the odd beer once or twice. Mostly to avoid suspicion but I always make sure I drink PLENTY of water with it.

Wow thanks for all the info guys. This is my first and only post (for now). I guess this Keto diet is harder than I had anticipated. I have a very sweet tooth and I love hot(spicy) foods. I'm the type of person who'd chow a packet of slap chips and some cheese vienna (with 6 slices of white albany bread)- Masala sprinkled on everything. Then have like 2 or 3 donuts(or thick ass cake slice), big Simba chips and a chocolate. Coke or grape juice to down that. All of this on a regular.

Now I made a quick ass switch to this Keto Diet that is so, so hard to keep up. In these 6 days, even though I drink plenty of water, I've had headaches and felt like hitting Debonaire's up for a cheesy triple deck. I just wish this diet had some delicious sugar packed stuff. But hey, it's for a good body so why not? I sitting here at 19% BF(last checked some weeks back though). If I can get to single digits, I hope I'll be able to eat what I used to eat - At least like, once or twice a week.

Don't discuss weed here bud.

When you feel like having something sweet:

Mix Evox Synergy whey (chocolate, or any good tasting whey) with cold water and a cup of hard rolled oats. Let the oats soak for a while and enjoy. You can eat this with a spoon. It's a really good and healthy snack.

Add peanut butter for some extra taste.

That chicken mince sounds good. I'll add chilli and masala to get it to taste lekka. Other than avocado, which I hate and have been eating daily, I haven't had a single fruit or veggie. No even a lil bit.

I didnt know I could have me some onions and tomatos :woohoo: :woohoo:

From the avo. Wait, how important is fibre? I didn't even have one yesterday.
Yesterday I just fried eggs with olive oil, had some sliced chicken breast strips, a protein shake, more chicken breast strips, and a cup of Rooibos tea with 2 sugars

When you truly go into ketosis - your number 2's become few and far between, so fibre is crucial!

I add clean fibre to my shakes. On the plus side, I save a lot on TP!

Which clean fibre do you add?

How much do you pay for it and where are you buying from?

I wanted to get something like this a while ago but it's crazy expensive at Dischem

Try psyllium husk... Not sure how it will effect ketosis but it's magic stuff.

Bud you need fibre or you going to clog up... Try ensure the only carbs ypu take in are from fibrous greens, like broccoli or green beans. Also split that throughout the course of the day.

Mince often has bread meal mixed into it aka carbs. Coke had phosphoric acid (diet too) which knocks you out of ketosis. Someone said chutney is fine - it's not its a bottle of sugar. Generally even sugar free gum causes an insulin response despite being sugar free. Avoid processed food as you never know what sugars and starches have been added e.g Woolworths plain Greek yogurt is actually full of corn starch to thicken it and improve shelf life. If you want to do keto properly you have to be ultra strict and test you blood for ketones (keto sticks are not very useful either - they overestimate your state of ketosis when you start as you excrete excess ketones in the beginning, once you are adapted and you can use ketones you don't pee them out as much and the keto sticks will say you are not in ketosis).

I eat loads of mince! 250g a day for about 3 years, You just need to no what's in it. I get topside mince from my butcher who trims all the fat off it but I still work on 5% fat even though it's less.

Go big or go home...
