Intercostal muscle strain was created by Muscleaddict
Anyone else had this? I have a grade 2 intercostal muscle strain that's going on almost 4 weeks and still hurts. I thought my liver or spleen was giving in but luckily it's just the muscles around my ribs.

Doc said 4-6 weeks to recover but this is getting ridiculous. No heavy lifting possible. I just needed to rant a bit.

Intercostals are a bitch. Like a groin they can take a long time to heal and are very easily re-injured (look at how many cricketers, rugby and soccer players are constantly way laid by groin injuries).

If the doc says rest for 4 weeks, take 6. If he says 6 weeks take 8 etc etc. These are muscles you definitely do NOT want compromised because they form part of your core and are recruited in most any activity.

Good judgement comes from experience.
Experience comes from bad judgement.

Yes it's a bitch. The funny thing is I injured myself doing my first ever crossfit workout and my conclusion: Moering a tractor tyre with a sledgehammer is completely unnecessary and pointless.

Hope you get better soon clutchplate.

Crossfit is quite a dangerous sport as not a lot of people know the correct forms and get injured with an incorrect (clean-and-jerk) of (push-press) for exampl

Yep that's what I always say and then I was suckered into doing a pointless crossfit workout. I don't train to be fit. I'll worry about that in my 40's. Fitness is a useful side effect. I train to get stronger, look good and for the stress release.

Bro.. it's hardcore.. mine was so painful that when I was about to sneeze your body breathes in before your sneeze, and you know how hard it is to stop a sneeze, the pain I felt instantly stopped it.

I had it around 5 plus weeks. Good luck man, I couldn't gym or anything.

Had it a couple times to. Damn irritating. Getting out of bed and turning over hurts like crazy. It takes an age to heal. What helped me is rolling on a hockey ball on my ribs.

Yes. I was only off a few weeks when I injured myself so not ready for another cycle yet anyway.
