Gyms was created by Mason Might
Hi all

Looking for some opinions here...
I train at Virgin Active currently, it's a crappy little club that is seriously over populated.

However!
I'm going to be moving to Durban area soon and have been looking at joining the classic virgin at Moses Mabhida. Now obviously it's on the higher end of the scale as far as costs are involved.

So do any of you train at a classic version? Is it worth it for their equipment and added benefits?

It would also be a bit of a drive if I find a place in the area I'm hoping to.

What about privately owned gyms in durban? Poisoned Pulse, your input would be appreciated!

Or am I perhaps like a deprived child running through a toy store wanting it all?

When it hurts... That's when i start counting, because that's when it starts to count.

Well it's easy. Liberty own your life rewards Program.

I'm a Liberty adviser and I'm using it. I gym for free basically.

You don't need to have any other Liberty Products.

The Reward Program pays you R50 per gym visit (one per day) R75 at classic gyms. until you reach your Gym Premium.

Virgin takes the amount out of your account and Liberty pays it back between the 1st and the 15th. Amount depends on how many times you went the previous Month.

You also get many other Rewards and specials.

R49 rand for the Lifestyle rewards + R115 for the Fitness specials.

You can activate online.

Normally I would give my Code for you guys to use but because of the nature of this site I think I won't as all your details would be sent to me as my Client.

Take some time and read the site. Also add your Dischem card to your own your life card.

You can save up a bit of money on the car if you actually use the rewards they provide.

Site
www.ownyourliferewards.co.za/

Reward Partners
media.ownyourliferewards.co.za/StorageMa...ochure_Online_HR.pdf

There is also a Planet Fitness option at R80 a month no contract.

I actually had a look at that, and spoke to a liberty advisor. He said that I need to have a product from you guys for a minimum of 750 pm to qualify.
Also would get back 75 per visit capped at 1000.

So total cost to me would be around 1054 if I recall.
And if I go that roroute with the classic gym I definitely will do that cause hay! A small investment like that will be a nice bonus when I decide to run GH :P

Thanks for that though wings!

No you don't need any products anymore. It changed a few months ago and I'm 100% sure.

Just select the "not a Liberty Customer option"

The poephol might have tried to push you in to buying a product.

Only difference between someone who has a liberty product is they get these added benefits.

- Book two free* tickets a week to support the Bulls, Lions, Sharks or Stormers

- Get two free* tickets for matches at Wanderers, Centurion, Kingsmead and Newlands stadiums for local and international matches.

- Redeem your free Ster Kinekor movie ticket at a self-help terminal counter by selecting Redeem eVoucher.

- Free parking in Sandton

I Think I must actually try and Sell this Product more. I Never really got in to it as I mostly do investments but this does pay me R800 per signup.

This was suggested to me by a close mate. He is moving to Liberty end of the month. My question is that I just moved to the Discovery Vitality Membership at Virgin Active which is only +-R175 per month, but I paid a R1225 activation fee (eina fok!). How much would I be able to redeem back? I gym 4-5 times a week.

Well Disco works according to your status and a max of 80%.

With Liberty you Should het 100% of your premiums back. Unfortunately You cant get that joining fee back from Virgin. Liberty pays for part of your joining fee. Thats why its cheaper.

When you guys join just remember to tell Virgin. They just need your Liberty Membership number.

And remember that you have to build up the visits first.

Hi W1ngs,

Please could you help me with advice regarding the Liberty sign up without a product. I would like to get the same contract but without a liberty product as I do not have R700/750 a month for that at the moment.

Seems like you cannot do that. When you go on the site it shows you tick boxes asking what you wish to sign up for. I then select "own your life rewards" and "fitness" and click next - Select "not a Liberty customer". After that it takes me to a details page where I can fill out all my personal details. At the bottom of the page there boxes again but now ONLY own your life is ticked. Seems like you cannot get the fitness without a product.

It does appear that you need to have a product before activating Fitness.

I phoned momentum and they also have a benefit product. You need to have a minimum policy of R300.00

So costs work as follows:

Policy minimum: R300.00
Momentum Multiply: R169.00 pm (you can add a beneficiary here then it's R199 for BOTH)
Gym fees: they pay 60% and 80% if you pass a fitness test.
They fitness test: R240.00pp
Signup fee (once off): R99.00

So fat this seems to be the best option until W1ngs can give more details regarding the fitness signup without having a product.
