How does one upregulate the damn GABA-a receptors?! Cyclo are you familiar with the newest studies on Flumazinil and how it could upregulate the receptors? Why is this so damn hard?

Not familiar with the study. But a quick PubMed search gave a few results

Pericic et al published the following in Eur. J of Pharmacology 507 (2005) 7-13:
Enhancement of benzodiazepine binding sites following chronic treatment with flumazenil
-Note this study was done on cell lines and not on people/animals.

This one is quite nice because on a "free" pdf version of the article is available (unless you have a PubMed password, then no problem)

There is a bit of work by Miller et al but these articles are only available on PubMed. Tried to find online PDF's but no luck.

Neuropharmacology is not my forte (I'm a chemistry guy, NMR, Mass spectrometry and the odd blowing up the lab were my fields). So although I did scan these articles mentioned above my conclusion is that the up regulation is purely academic. The half life of Flumazenil is very short so you would have to inject yourself plenty times a day for a few days before you notice anything and then the up regulation is short lived.

Now that I've used my monthly brain allocation... :silly:

Mason, if it is stress induced (i.e. low hGH and high cortisol levels) gH and reducing the stress will help.
