No PM system?

Hi all,

So I have been on muuuultiple forums over the past 10 years. I just noticed that this forum does not have a PM system!?

Is there any specific reason for that? I have a few ideas in mind but not 100% sure?
Or does it perhaps get unlocked later on when your status changes?

I think its probably to prevent the site being a magnet for dealers.

Can you imagine the background dealing via PM's?

And only a matter of time before some skate dealer trips over the feds.
Then the feds are on here!!!!!

Yeah, thats what I was thinking. Sight.

Guess there isn't really a way around it. Even if a system where you have to have been a member for x amount of time and have x amount of posts before you are allowed to make use of the PM system.

I'm sure there are a number of dealers on here already,
but the key is, they're not using the site to deal.

Also, not all dealers are skates.

I'm all for legal everything, from crack cocaine to medical marijuana.
Let the Darwin effect solve the issues.

That won't work either because I've had most of my problems with long time members and the new guys very seldom bother me. There are many sharks lurking around on forums and the main reason this forum is doing so well is because of the vigorous policing by the mods.

More issues with long time members, interesting.

I guess even a shoutbox of sorts wouldn't work, be a bit tricky to monitor and might make the forum section rather quiet as people might just start using the shoutbox for advice instead.


The only reason I am missing it right now is due to the fact that there is a member or two whom I would like to ask some questions and do not feel as if it would be worth while creating a new thread for these few questions. Not the end of the world I guess, I am just not use to it.


Another thing is, someone mentioned networking. Which is nice, however doing it in the gym... I think one would probably end up with tons of bad advice and information. :S

At the end of the day, I'd rather have this forum with no PM system than no forum at all.

the toolbar when you reply has a question mark go there and learn the BB code.

Confidential information Can only be seen by mods and Admin.

I don't want private messages.. Admin has asked me once or twice in the past about someone wanting to ask me something and I said they can ask it on the forum. The only person I have contact with on the forum is admin and that's the way I want it.

And this is a public forum.. so there is nothing the site has to hide from anyone and that's the way we want it.

Yea private messages would defeat the object of the forum. What we have is archives of valuable information that with a little diligence will teach you all you need to know.

You can always email me by using the contact-us form. You can't contact mods though.

Haha, I looked in your post and even selected all incase you made the text the same colour as the background.

I eventually thought you either made a mistake or joking meant the "Report to moderator" button.
