Hey bud can't help with details about Zambia. But I have provincial colours for rock and surf and lived near Jozini at a stage. So if you want help with rigs, knots or lures shout.

I once got half a rapala back!

When it hurts... That's when i start counting, because that's when it starts to count.

Fishing for tigers are still on my todo list, so I don't have any personal experience to give, but what I'm going to do when I finally get my chance is to hire a guide on the Cahora Bassa dam and let him show me the ropes and how to find them.

See if you can get hold of Emildo Sada, then you know you have the best chance of success.

@mason.. I will ask you hopefully end if the year when I buy my things. planning to go next year may/June side.. whats the cost you think it will be to have lures for 1 person 5 days fishing(ball park figure).. I hear it's abit expensive..

@admin.. Tanx will search it up.. yes definitely planning to hire a guide to take me out on a boat and atleast a 3-4star accommodation. just waiting for me n my buddy's to collect enough money to have a good trip..

I heard of a guy names Gareth Coombes that's runs a lodge there.. 5star lodge if I'm not mistaken.. probably pricy.. if it's allowed on the rules I can try n get his number.. if not search up his name..

thanks for the response..

For a decent set of lures anything from A grand and up. Obviously depends on what brands etc you use. Rapala being the king.

I enjoy poppers, as I find the Tigers hunt near the surface where I fish for them. Also remember underwater structure, if there's shallow rocks and you have a deep diver on, you going to spend more time stuck than anything else. Adapt to conditions

No experience on the Zambian side of the Zambezi, but have caught a few tiger from the Zimbabwe side and in lake Kariba. There's a nice fishing lodge at Chirundu - Willy Reed's place, a few k's downstream from the Chirundu bridge, called Tiger Safari's. I caught tiger on plain spoons, kapenta, Rapala's, steak, fresh fillet of other fish I'd caught - such as barbel or tilapia. I'm no expert, but suggest you take heavier tackle than you would expect to need - tigerfish's mouth is bony inside, so your hooks must be very sharp to set. Other essential is long steel traces / leaders - tiger cut through nylon fishing line. Expect an exciting but also frustrating time - I landed probably one in ten tiger that I hooked. They frequently 'tail walk' to throw hooks - have a camera ready. Watch out for crocs & hippo - they share the same rivers
