Hi im new here, great too see a dedicated south african fitness forum with so many active users. Looking forward to be enlightened by all you dedicated folk on the truth about steroids. There's just so much Bs and half truths going around, it's hard to know what's right and wrong.

Welcome, be sure to check out all the info in the articles section and ask if you don't understand.

When it hurts... That's when i start counting, because that's when it starts to count.

Quite impressed by the wealth of information on this forum. Anyway I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place, been seriously training since January and I've put on a decent amount of muscle (added 8kgs and bf remained the same) by using a dup program with mainly compound movements and eating 500 over maintenance. My aim was to build a solid foundation for about a year and then use gear once I've maxed out my beginner potential. I thought my bf was around 15% but clearly my caliper has been lying to me, after seeing the pics in piets thread, I'm definitely between 20 - 25%, my question is, do I drop my calories and bring my bf down to around 13 - 15% and start over? Or keep going with my routine and add some cardio? I would hate to lose what I've gained so far but on the same note, I hate looking like a slob. Any advice will be highly appreciated.

Get your body fat to sub 15% before even considering anabolics. Only way to lose the weight is to eat under calorie maintenance, but keep protein intake high. Increase cardio to 20-30 min at least 3x a week preferably after strength (weight) training if you plan on doing cardio on weight training days. Keep doing mainly compound movements, going as heavy as you can BUT with strict form. If you have to start compromising form then the weight is too heavy. In general, The last 2 reps of every set should be quite difficult, then you know the weight you are using is sufficient

Thanks @herculean, will add some cardio, drop the calories & maybe try going with an IF approach to shed the fat. I've also become too accustom to my current program, so going onto a 5x5 routine should help me maintain muscle while shedding the fat. I'll only start looking at gear when I'm down to 13% bf and can squat at least double my weight.
