easiest i have found is to read reviews on the net or watch some on youtube. then go to a store and hold the camera in your hand to see what you like

buy the canon bundle with 55mm & 300mm lens. great to start off with and all you need for now.

With the DSLR cameras it is generally the lenses which make the bigger difference.

A cheap entry level body with some nice Canon "L" glass will yield significantly better pictures than a super expensive R100k body with a cheapy lens.

For wild life people often require lenses with a lot of "zoom". So from 250mm upwards generally and depending on how you plan on using it getting one with image stabilization will probably assist as it will allow you to shoot with a faster shutter speed.

In terms of Nikon vs Canon. I personally prefer Canon and own a Canon camera. So I am perhaps a bit biased. I stand to be corrected but I think Canon have kept their current lens mounts the same for a lot longer than Nikon have.

If you are an amateur, get a cheaper body and then put a bit more money towards a decent lens. However even the kit lenses are not bad to learn with.

EDIT: This might be of interest to you

For some Abs are made with lighting & angles... For others they are made in the kitchen.

I think so, once you have a good lens you always have a good lens.

I am currently using the cheapest Canon DSLR body (1200D) and I love it, still really good.
I got a great deal from ORMS Direct, takealot also have some decent deals now and then. ODP (Outdoorphoto) also have some decent prices.

I'd say take a look at those sites, you can shop around a bit as well but doubt you will find something new which will be cheaper than you can get from those sites.

I have the 1200D and I love it, more than enough for a beginner IMO.

I got the top option for R3900 (I can't remember what I paid, around the same though) and that is a pretty good price IMO.

I would go with that option and then spend any extra money you have on a proper lens or two - with regards to lenses I suggest reading reviews of various lenses before purchasing and consider purchasing 2nd hand if you are budget conscious. ORMS and ODP both have used equipment for sales and one even has a classifieds where its members can sell camera equipment.

That being said it could work out more cost effective to get the 1200D which has the 18-55mm and the 75-300mm kit lenses as opposed to getting the R3900 bundle and trying to find a decent zoom lens for R3000.
It depends on your budget and whether you'd be willing to spend more money on a zoom lens or whether you'd rather stick to your budget and use the kit zoom lens :)

I was thinking the same thing.. the 7000 option will work out better because lens are not cheap..I'm just going to find out exactly which lens it was then research that particular lens and hope the special is on in march

orms and odp has some good deals especially with the Nikon d3200 with 2 lenses, bag, and mem card..

I was also told Nikon is better for wildlife(I was looking at the d3200)?? any thoughts or is the guy just trying to sell Nikon for some reason or because it's more pricy then the 1200d canon which I also asked about.

thank you :)

take a memory card with, and TEST the camera. Test all the functions and also macro settings. Use manual focus and auto focus and test the lenses.

^^ What Oupa has said.
Also check the shutter count: www.howtogeek.com/218244/how-to-check-a-...why-you-should-care/

I have seen people purchase cameras which are not all that old and of which their friend has the same model. They get theirs and for some reason their pictures have a lot more noise than their friends - even with the same settings and lenses. ;)
