Wazzup!

So I have a slight concern and would just like to get a bit of info from here before I do anything about it.
Basically I was born with a hernia, umbilical I believe, which normally heals and corrects itself and seldom requires surgery.

I have known this and it has never really bothered me until very recently, where I started prodding around just a little bit and noticed the area around my belly button (kinda just above it) feels quite sensitive when touched and hurts if I press a bit too hard. It had never bothered me while doing anything until the other day at gym when I was doing some laying leg curls and I was playing around with my positioning a bit and it hurt a bit in that exact area, now it might have been that my belly button was inbetween the two, I dunno what to call it - pads perhaps, and it got pressed into the one pad a bit hard and it hurt.
I did some googling for umbilical hernia's and mine certainly is not protruding like it is in a lot of those photos.

I had a conversation with my gym partner who mentioned that when I do leg press my stomach pushes out quite a bit and apparently his does not push out nearly as much as mine - I am not too sure whether this is normal, good or bad? He mentioned this could be a concern - is it? I feel no pain or discomfort in my stomach area at all although I could understand there is some pressure from the weight and all the pushing. I generally do not breath while I am pushing and only inbetween reps.

The other thing is, I do not really know all that much about hernias. Is there anything I should be doing or avoid doing? Perhaps more ab exercises or avoid doing certain exercises or whatever. I recall reading that hernia's can happen with bodybuilding but generally only happens with HGH and is due to the growth of the internal organs? I have never used any HGH, I am currently on cycle though and am only running test right now, I have only ever run test and orals.

So I am thinking I should perhaps go to my GP just to check it out at the very least, rather be safe than sorry and at the same time I can get some scripts for Vitamin B12 vials. I am not sure whether I should bring up my steroid use with her as I am not sure it is necessary for her to known?

I am just looking for a little bit of advice and feedback here. See how much of a problem it may or may not be and perhaps the best way to go about dealing with it.

Thank guys! :cheer:

As I understand a herniated belly button, it's where the intestines push against the "break" in the abdominal wall causing the rectus sheath to push through. That said most of the area is tendinous intersections so no amount of exercise will close it.

If I was you, I would avoid any exercise that requires you to stabilize your core, as this will result in more pressure applied to the area. However, I don't believe it is dangerous to train at all. I might just worsen the condition.

Perhaps I should just do that then.

Will come back here if I have some questions still which my Dr was unable to answer if that happens.
