Cz 75 pistol safety issue was created by Jono77
Hey guys, so hopefully there are some clued up gunsmiths or firearm enthusiasts around here.

I myself am a passionate shooter and have a deep love for firearms and how they work.

I bought a cz 75 pistol (pre b) from a guy who was immigrating for a bargain. He really man handled the gun and removed the blueing and I think he tried to make it full auto or something?

The gun is NOT full auto (just saying) it looks like he tried to file down some surfaces inside the firearm.. the gun shoots great and I've reblued the slide matt and the frame gloss with new hogue grips..now the problem.. the safety engages really rough and when the trigger is squeezed the hammer drops and the safety moves back to fire, also sometimes the hammer doesn't drop with its full weight and gets caught on the sear (this problem has cleared up with more shooting)

So what do you guys think about the safety selector situation? Could it just be a spring or a cam or surface?

I know I should take the firearm to a gunsmith but for now I want to troubleshoot some ideas

Thanks ahead

Jono, I am also a passionate firearm owner and also owns a 9mm CZ mod 75.

Personally, I won't tamper with its safety mechanism, especially if it had been worked on or modified. Especially if the previous owner tried to make it a full automatic.

I would recommend rather take it to a gunsmith first to have a look at it. Also, should he have tried to convert it to a full automatic, it will definitely have licencing issues as you are probably aware of.

Goodluck

Thanks optron,I am aware of the full auto implications, luckily the guy didn't succeed :D Im just trying to do some fault finding until I can take it to my gunsmith when I have the money.

@fillet, my first self defense firearm was an old rossi .38spl 2" snubby. But I wasnt happy with the performance from the round and I want to do competitive pistol shooting as well,so I bought myself the cz.
.357 out of a 5" = lovely exit wound

Blunderbus not sure if in Alberton or Kempton. Been a while back that I was up in that neck of the woods. If you want a decent performing cz that won't break the bank and a good platform for future mods look at a good second hand Cz 85 Combat.

It is on you. It always has been...

Beautiful pistol bul,I was actually looking for an 85 but when my 75 came along for a bargain I couldn't pass it up.

One of the best pistols I've ever handled and shot with is a vector sp40, a friend of mine owns the last sp40 that vector produced,it has a factory muzzle break, the slide is factory lightened, factory combat sights and the factory even flared the mag wel. I told him if he ever sells it he must give me first choice, I swear If I wasn't going to juice in the future I would sell my kidney to buy the thing :D :D

Hi Jono.

I think you are talking about a SP1 or SP2 Target or Sport the only difference between a SP1 and SP2 were the calibre the SP1 is 9mm Parabellum and the SP2 S&W .40 If indeed it is a SP40 it is not a true Vektor but one made by Nobletech after Denel sold Vektor to Noble.

Either way nice gun I would also jump on it especially if it is 9mm Parabellum I already load my own rounds for me and Lallie

It is on you. It always has been...

Yeah it is the SP2,I wasn't 100% sure so i said 40 cause it's in 40s&w,but yeah it is a beautiful gun but the guy isn't budging on selling it right now. I'll get the bokke together for now,I don't think he could reject a cash offer...or at least I hope not :D :D

I think the Glock 19 is more practical for my needs.

I like the glocks but damn the no safety puts me off a bit. It's nice to see how different people like different guns and have their own reasons for their choice.

I got a 32 round mag for my cz, I swear half way through that happy stick I had a chubb of note :D

I've got a mossberg 500 shotgun that I'll be spraying soon,I'll post some pics when I'm done

I realised now for everyday carry smaller is better I have a Glock 34 and 43 and with the 43 I can carry everywhere without hassles. Even went through a metal detector at our local department of home affairs and they didn't pick it up guess it is too much of tupperware.
