Are you following a "keto" diet?

More Ketones in the body could cause your breath to smell of alcohol.

It could also be the slin.

I doubt it is the few drops of Letro.

If your body was producing that level of ketones you would be very sick.

I have to disagree that you would be sick. I have run Keto with blood ketone levels as high as 4mmol/l. Provided your salt intake is high enough you feel amazingand that’s only possible if you are type 1 diabetic and are in ketoacidosis I.e. high blood ketones (going ever higher) as you are not producing insulin to clear blood glucose so the state is really high ketones and glucose simultaneously. An impossible condition on a Keto diet with no carbs and a healthy pancreas.

Umm, did I mention anything about diet causing the smell. Or did I state high levels of ketones. Why would I reference being sick to a keto diet?

At first I thought you were bragging. Normally on Keto your breath smells more from a combination of things like ketones causing a dry mouth, as well as the physical volume of food you eat that is like half that of a normal diet. Eating less means the mouth stays closed more, less food passes through the mouth to scrape off that which is left from previous meals.

I think it's just one of those random things. They could have smelled the ocean too (if you know what I mean).

The smell is acetone which is a byproduct of your body processing beta-hydroxy butyrate for energy which is the chemical we call ketones.

I doubt that one produces enough BHB to be smelled on the breath by humans.

It’s not the BHB that smells but the acetone byproduct. In fact there is a breath ketone meter available as an alternative to the blood ketone meter, which is pretty accurate and it measures the acetone in your breath.

Yes we get that but would you find it in quantities where the human nose can pick it up?
