Nope, valid reasons don't count in SA.

Jo1, what kind of gun did you apply for? What most of us here do is we join a hunting club and that greatly improves your chances.

Oh and the reason it takes so long is because the government hopes that you get killed before they approve your license. The longer you stay defenseless the better for them. I'm saying this from a white farmer's perspective. They (government) have a surprise coming though.

I'm pretty confident that Afriforum will win their case in the High Court to put a stop to the new licensing procedure.

The only gun I will own is a paintball gun, unless I still lived on the farm, then we had loads of guns... I don't like hand guns as people wear them all the time and pull them out in a fight or heated moment.

Yes, I joined them back when Julius started his kak and I feel they are the only people still willing to fight the ANC. I know that my monthly donation is well spent and it's not wasted on some fucker in parliament's car or house.

My union is Solidarity and they are an affiliate of Afriforum and that R72 a month is a absolute bargain for the uncomfortable questions they ask!

i really hope they will do, but do u guys really think, that these unions will change anything, i mean look at the anc supporters, they outweigh all other unions by the thousands, they are like a bunch of apes, all following the one in front, yet they now fokol whats going on, and why they following the one in front, but comes voting time, they vote for the empty promises yet again, and also people immigrating also does not help us, just less votes for the good party.

After a high court ruling in December I've got it on good authority that licenses take 4 month to be approved and issued. Now I'm finally confident to go put the shotgun my dad gave me on my name and also buy my childhood dream H&K 9mm.

Vega5 these days I've heard of plenty of people who have had licenses turned down because they haven't backed up their reason why they want to own a firearm. You'll have to back up your claim with proof that you hunt and become a member of a hunting club, better still if you do a Dedicated Hunters course (DH) this should greatly improve your chance of your license being accepted. When i applied for my firearm license i got letters from farmers who's farms i had hunted on and I sent about 11 or so pictures of previous hunts with the owners on the farm in them. I had little trouble with my license application after I did all these things but at the end of the day it's a lot of hassle and fuss over just getting one firearm license.

You guys might think I'm crazy, but i know how to achieve greatness.

was going to say shotties are always a problem for them but if you are into wing shooting it wont be a problem hopefully, if you are at a range try get some clay pigeon shoots under your name as well, it always helps.. We have a pump that we claim is for wing shooting and clay haha, nearly lost it until we did that.

While we're on the topic. Do you guys maybe know where the best priced gun shop is in Gauteng? The reason why I'm asking is because the handgun I want to buy won't be cheap so if I can save a bit I'll take it.

Hi Vega,

Geez there are so many Gun Shops, best you phone around for the best price.

Gun City - Boksburg
VLT - Pretoria North
Southern Arms - Wynberg
Skopos. - Kempton Park
Dave Sheer - Randburg ?
Blou Meul - Alberton

I would actually recomend signing up on gunsite.co.za, for some free advise and clearer direction.

Hope this helps?
