Elbow injury was created by Relentless
Hey guys i was wondering if you could help me with this.

I started max ot a couple weeks ago and last week after doing triceps my elbow was particularly sore, the next day i really felt it. but i heard that max ot really hits your joints hard so didn't worry too much of it.

But when i did tri's again yesterday i couldn't complete a set because of the pain, its particularly painful when i do tricep cable pushdown and skull crushers.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Hrm, no 'exercise program' should hurt your joints or its not safe for you. I am not sure what that pain could be, I'm sure our guru spike will be able to advise further on this. Bottom line is, if an exercise hurts you don't do it, it is pointless having to stop an exercise because your joints are in pain yet your muscle group you training is not.

Its the Tricep tendon.

Problem with MaxOt is that most people go OTT!

Cannot work for me. Too old. I shudder when i see what some of these young okes are doing.
Struggle to do a 45% squat and then jump up at the top! For freak sakes.

yep, sounds like tricep tendon taking a bit of strain. Best thing for it is to warm it up properly before starting heavy sets. Do some light, high rep pull downs before your workout. And a bit of ice post work out wont go amiss

Um, but im scared of needles...

no problem. Remember you dont have to scrap max ot in entirety, just utilise some of their major principals in your training and modify areas that you are battling with

Culprit is probably Skull Crushers, not to question your form and technique but most people get this exercise wrong and go to heavy. I start light and I mean light 20kg EZ Bar 2 Sets warmup to get nice bloodflow there and completely warmup joints then I jump 10kgs to 30 before finally getting to working sets of 45kg. Head over the edge of the bench, lock elbows, lower to skull before extending back up. I had the same issue till a P/Trainer corrected my form since then 100%.

i did chest and tri's today, and took your advice, did some intense warm ups starting real light and working my way up by the time i got to my working sets there was no pain just with every second or third one it came back but then did more warm ups.
And honestly i can say i got more out of this work out then last time. It took longer but thumbs uo in the end, and also i dont feel that nagging pain i had afterwards

I have had the same problem, nagging pain just above the elbow joint. Took a month off but still has not resolved. What should my next step be? Physio massage, dry-needling? Not quite sure who would be the best practitioner to visit. Thanks for any advice.
