Who was at the Top Gear Festival at Kyalami this past weekend?

I saw two pretty big guys on Sunday at the 11am show...

The higlights for me was the Red Bull F1 demonstration, Stunt Show and F1 parade.

Lucky you Admin. Im very bleek that i missed it, been to the previous shows and really enjoyed them.

How was it compared to the show at the Dome?

Was Sasha "i-cant-drive-for-shit" Martinengo presenting with the Top Gear boys again?

Was also miff that I couldn't go. I just love that show!

Some okes on the radio this morning were complaining about the organization, saying it was kak. Said the show was great but everything else was shit. Any complaints on that side Admin?

Not sure how the show at the Dome was, never saw that.

Yep, Sasha and Tiff Needell were the co-presenters.

The main complaint I had is with their event timing. Right after the Stunt Show ended they were already firing up the F1 cars and we almost missed it and when we arrived at the main straight it was so packed you couldn't even get up the stairs. I eventually got a place to stand, but it was right at the end of the pit lane and we missed most of the action. The youtube video above was from someone else as we only got to see the Red Bull for 0.002 seconds when it shot past at full throttle.

The thing that pissed me off was that the seats on the other side of the track were all unused, but you couldn't get to them because the bridge were closed.

Red Bull will have a demonstration run in Cape Town on the 27th and maybe I will go have a look there as well.

It was the first TG live ever of its kind to be held in the open at a race track, so im sure there were organisational issues. Not a huge fan of Kyalami, not really people friendly. Went to watch tha A1 GP and it was so KAK compared to Durban's street track.

On a side note, any F1 fans here? Who you guys got your money on this year? Gonna be a cracker...

The rain ruined it for alot of people. Alot of the shows at the Thunderdome were cut short due to the rain.

the organisers had not prepared for rain, so when it did start coming down people were running all over the place for shelter.

Ja, guys on the radio were really pissed off that the grand stand wasn't available. They reckoned that spectators weren't catered for at all. Couldn't see shit they said.
Feel glad in a way now that I didn't waste my bucks.

Looks like it going to be Red Bull vs Ferrari this year. Mercedes have by all accounts, upped their game quite a bit too. Mclaren appear off the pace quite a bit which is a bummer for me. :( But hey, who knows until we start racing right? Can't wait for the weekend.

I went to the first two years these Top Gear events were held at the Dome and it was freaking awesome!!!

The only reason why I never went to this event was because I know the Highveld thunders had to make its appearance at some stage.

Luckily I missed all the rain and it came poring down just as I got back to the parking area.

Kyalami is not a very pretty track at all and it's not capable of holding events with many spectators. It's a mess trying to get around the place and the queues are probably 3km long trying to get on a bus...

My money is on Fernando Alonso this year, but I'm hoping for another close championship like we had last season.

I was at the Top Gear Festival. It was good but I just found the show with Clarkson, Hammond and May to be a bit short. I would have liked it if they had critiqued a few cars like they do on the TV show. The Red Bull F1 car was definately the highlight, there's nothing like standing a few meters away from a 800HP machine doing 20 000rpm.

Actually 720HP and 18000 RPM, thanks to the FIA restrictions.
