Gents

This past weekend I went to the van der Mescht classic in the West Rand. This is the second time I went to a show (went to the same one last year but it was held in the Randburg civic centre). Anyone else on here go to this (clown)show?

I don't want to be negative about this. I don't want to knock the obvious hard work that people put into smaller shows like this but seriously, it was poor to say the least. At last years event there were at least a couple of athletes who wouldn't look out of place in a decent size ifbb show. This year there was nothing of the sort and the overall winner (if the best of that bad lot can be called that) looked no better than your average juice head with big pecs, medium shoulders and fuck all leg development.

In total there were less than about 30 athletes in the various weight divisions and of that, about 15 or so shouldn't be allowed on stage. How is it possible that in the Gauteng region, there aren't 40 guys that can compete? Was there some sort of bodybuilder contiki to somewhere that I'm not aware of? Where did the athletes go?

Also the crowd was disappointing. There were probably around 100 people in the audience. I would have thought a whole lot more would show up to see it...

The IFBB central Gauteng champs is on at the same venue in August and the Muscle Evolution Grand Prix is at Gold Reef some time in October. These shows will hopefully produce better athletes, better crowds and a better atmosphere.

The one positive was that your truly met Hennie Kotze who was there as a guest to sign autographs and pose for pics. I'll upload the one I took with him later today (his arms are astonishing! ) And on top of that he seems like a great guy. Hope he does well from here on out.

Don't really have a point with this post. I'm just sad that it wasn't as good as I had hoped for. Thats all.

Yo

I went to the one at Randburg last year, dam has it been a year already? I didn't hear about this event, that goes to show how badly it was organized, no one in my gym was even speaking of it.. Last year I knew a girl that took part and she invited me through.. Very sad, maybe it will be nice if we can get a list of shows (as I have stopped buying Mags years ago) have countless muscle books and they all the same month after month.. Maybe we can open a thread with a list of all the events in the country>?

would be nice if the IFBB could post up results and pics (on the website) of their shows as soon as they take place.

I would like to chime in on the subject.

I always appreciate peoples constructive critism, however I would have to agree with you on the subject.

I dont know what exactly you were looking for from the show, but It certainly had quality guys competing. Guys such as Andrew Zuma, Remember, Donkor, myself, and more who HAVE placed within the top 3 at IFBB SA'S.

"the overall winner (if the best of that bad lot can be called that) looked no better than your average juice head with big pecs, medium shoulders and fuck all leg development".

I was the overall winner at the Van De Mesch classic and whilst I do appreciate your feedback albeit negative, I am certainly an athelete who has done well in gauteng as well as at national level. Furthemore my reputation, credentials in competitions, as well as respect from all the big name guys in the industry speaks for itself.

Oh and about Hennie Kotze, great guys....as he congratulated me, and told me I'll be tough contender in the future...
Also Andrew Carrutgers speach about me at the end of the show spoke volumes...

However im not here to prove anything to you or anybody else.....

Thanks again for your critism

This is fucken hilarious!

I'm sorry dude. Apologies if my year old post bothered you that much. Congrats on the win. Winning a b/building show (regardless of the size/calibre of show) is very impressive indeed. Your dedication is admirable. Having said that...

I find it slightly amusing that a post from 2011, made by some anonymous keyboard warrior, pissed you off so much that you had to bother registering and posting a rebuttal.

This topic was brought to my attention a few days ago. I'm not here to defend myself or try and prove anything, nor look for praise from anyone. I'm very content and comfortable with my achievements. I do respect peoples opinions and their constructive critism. I can certainly post some pictures if someone can tell me how to

As requested here are pictures of myself from the van der mesch classic last year. One thing to note is that I weighed a mere 64kg for the show.

Do I need to improve, absolutely. There are alot of areas my trainer Deon Gouws and myself are working on for when I decide to return to stage.

Great physique, flows nicely.
My only crit one BB to another is calves, and when you pull a rear dbl bicep lift the arms up a bit, I know it was a long time ago, but well done.
