Hey guys i have had this little injury that has troubled me for the past year. Every now and then i get this pain in the outer wrist/forearm area and every time it happens i have to take a week off , it has happened 6 times in the past year. Any one have any idea how i can prevent this or any thing that would help.

yes, go get someone specialised to take a look at it and treat it. A chiro would be your best bet for a muscle/joint related problem. Otherwise tell me more about the injury and i can help. Where exactly is it? Describe the pain? What movements aggravate it?

Um, but im scared of needles...

I have the exact same thing, and mainly only doing chest, dam its saw, its like a pins and needles sensation.. I have to stop doing sets before my chest has even been hit properly.. Happens less on machines, but still there doing incline, which i'm gathering hits right into that area of the forearm quite nicely.. I can hardly do 40kg presses now without feeling this, really sucks not to be able to do full strength sets.

Mnr Pompies, maybe a neck/shoulder outlet issue? You say incline mainly, maybe we're looking at a nerve compression or irritation in the brachial plexus rather then a localised issue...

Hmm, never though of it that way, I am very tense in my shoulders and neck, I'm going to book for the chiropractor to check it out, this guy knows my body well, also I've never had pain in there before I'm not doing anything different I don't see it being picked up by injury, I'm not even pushing at gym.. TX bro, you always provide that other angle ;)

No problem buddy, get him to check out your neck and do some thoracic outlet tests... Should be able to pick up very quickly if its stemming from up there. Otherwise slowly move down the arm including shoulder and elbow for possible issues. Was your mention of incline really getting it going that brought a little light bulb up in my head ;)

Another thing slightly off topic here but going towards 00Pump with tense shoulders and neck...I suffer similar tension and no matter of sports massage or treatment seems to get rid of it. Then a trip to Bali for my honeymoon and these massage therapists didn't touch my neck or traps. They worked on my forearms, biceps, triceps and medial delts.

Amazingly afterwards I didn't have one knot left in my traps or neck and my niggling tricep tendonitis disappeared as well.

Now, anytime I go for a massage I get them to work on that and that tension and tightness vanishes. Just a thought to try as well.
