Does anybody here play golf?

Hi Guys,

I don't like starting new threads but this I need to know.

Does anybody here play golf? The reason for my question is, when I was in my teens I played good golf and I've recently taken it up again and I'm enjoying every second of it.

If some of you play, do you find any problems with your swings due to size or something.

I had to drop from 107kg down to 103kg already in an attempt to decrease my back width as it was difficult to get a full swing in.

I tried, ball was on the tee and i kept swinging... however the ball didn't move, the grass around it was gone. ended up loosing my temper through the club it hit some other toppie on the golf course. he complained so i was kicked out....

Yes bud i play on a 19 handicap we got a nice golf course here.Play club competion every sat,but not a easy game at all.

It has an affect on your swing because when i was younger i played on a 13 handicap,sometimes it feels like i cant complete my backswing thnx.

I play golf once a month or so .I used to be very good at it and was around a 8 handicap when I was younger. My weight when I was a 8 handicap was around 80kg's or so and now it's 106kg's and more in bulking time. I have found that It's almost impossible for me to do a full back swing due to my back and lat muscles having gotten bigger,also chest if affecting my follow through a little though.

I used to play, but very seldom now. Only at SAP golf days few times a year just for fun. Being at 125kg really makes it difficult.

No difference in swing, only that I can hit the ball further.. I think the problem is not being 'bigger' as I have some some MASSIVE guys play golf.. The problem is gym constricts our motions, and that is why its so important to stretch, be supple and do exercises that use other muscles, aka golf, tennis, squash, etc..

After a few weeks of hitting the ball, you will feel comfortable in your stance (golf is a very uncomfortable) game, when you have not played for awhile, and it just takes time to feel comfortable.. I can teach you one trick, keep looking at your belt, and were ever your belt ends your ball ends... You can see exactly were the person is going to hit just by looking at his belt..

I also suggest to start off with a 3 quarter swing, till you feel comfortable, I just started again on my 7 iron, PW, and now and then I take a 5... Not ready for the course or it will be a long day, hacking and hurting my body from not going through the ball cleanly..

Yes it affects me. Im either stiff or pumped or something and my swing goes down the toilet.

I believe this is an issue of flexibility rather than size. I'm 105kg and have no problems when I play golf, and I only play once in a blue moon.

I don't stretch at all but every exercise I do is full range of motion.

Not playing as regularly as I used to. The 6 Handicap is more like a 12 now.
Avoid training chest, back and to a lesser extend shoulders the closer you get to your game.

I experienced really bad flexability if I train up to match day.

If you play every week end, your gonna have problems with the above suggestion.

I used to play off a 7. Won B division club champs two years in a row. But my schedule has become way too hectic to fit in regular rounds, and I'd rather not play at all than once a month. Membership and green fees have also become shit expensive

I played two weeks ago the day after a back session and its safe to say I'll never do that again.

On the green fees issue, there's many courses out there that has sub R1000 green fees.

I'll definitely start stretching more and give feedback.

With very limited Driving Range time 'GASP' has pulled me through a lot of the technical stuff.

G - Grip
A - Alignment
S - Stance
P - Posture

The best for low green fees, is to join the cheapest club you can, and pay Affiliated rates.
Even join a 'virtual' club or a as country member at Pit Sonder Water CG....
